Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Going to watch "Item 47" before tonight's episode. I've read that the Shield agent in that short will make an appearance.

So far this has been the best episode of the series. If there are more like this one, I'll stick around. Clark's comforting of the fireman was a great scene.

Yes!

If anyone can't get into this show after that, I don't know what to tell ya. That was pure awesomeness!

It looks like they're experimenting a bit to try and find what buttons to push on the audience.

Seems like they're turning Simmons into Willow. Put her in danger, and the audience hurts.

It doesn't hurt that Elizabeth Henstridge is extremely adorable and that the character is very sweet and likeable.

Also, it was nice to see everyone else show a moment of humanity, especially Agent May.

I really want to love this show but I cant . I cant enjoy a show where i only care to watch one person.
Fingers crossed it changes soon

This weeks episode was probably my favorite one so far. I think having less Skye helped.
The show is popular in the ratings, but I'm sure some tweaking will happen as the season goes on. They are definitely building something. I hope Cobie Smulders does return next season as Maria Hill, as was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Agreed! Nice to see that Agent Blake continued as the Stick in the Mud I expected him to be.
It will be nice to have Blake, Hill and Fury pop in from time to time.

So what does a supposedly normal physical for Coulson mean? Unless all the reports were faked he's not a robot or AI or anything.

I wonder how far ahead their shooting schedule is ahead of air time. I wonder because I half think the line about 'gee i mention i'm rusty once...' was a shout out to the fan speculation.

The point was that Colson was deeply affected psychologically. He initiated his own testing because he couldn't comprehend that there wasn't something physically wrong with himself ... which there wasn't.

^This.

Coulson's side story was about him having to face the fact that he did indeed die and understand that he is now a different person than he once was because he went through this extremely traumatic experience, something that May seemingly understands all too well.

That said, there's still a bit of mystery as to what really happened to Coulson due to Maria Hill's comment to Dr. Shepherd Book (sorry, couldn't resist) about how Coulson "can never know."

That's exactly what I meant. It was obvious in the show he did it for those reasons (he felt he changed but didn't physically, just emotionally). The tests proved to him he was fine.

If he was a clone or LMD he wouldn't have giant scar on his chest. If he did, it would have to have been done in a way that would be clearly obvious to a real doctor.

Seems to rule out both those options.

So if he went to Asgaard. Why must he never know?

He could still be a LMD or clone. The scar would have to be added to the body, cause there would be no way of explaining the missing scar.

How long before the Avengers find out about Coulson, or do any of them already know?

If it was longer than 8 seconds, how long was it?

It must be something other than Asgard if "he can never know." There is something very morbid about her delivery of that line.

I'm guessing the Avengers find out either when one of them does a guest spot on the show (unlikely) or the next film with the team.

Frankly Tony should already know, unless S.H.I.E.L.D. is covering every trace of Coulson's return well enough for JARVIS not to notice some chatter, or a file with his name on it, or a street cam observing him.

That's assuming that Tony is even suspects that Coulson is not really dead and would have JARVIS keep a look out for any mention or sighting of him. While JARVIS is on heck of an AI I don't think that it's quite smart enough to go to Tony, "Hey Tony, about that Agent Coulson guy, guess what I just heard/saw?" out of the blue without Tony directing (whether directly or indirectly) JARVIS to keep an eye out for signs of Coulson.

Maybe not actively looking for it, but I don't think it's a stretch for Tony to have JARVIS monitoring S.H.I.E.L.D. for whatever reason (paranoia, mistrust, general screw-the-man authority bucking). As much as Extremis is popping up on the show Tony may have feelers out for that.
