Hey guys,
I've been at this for quite a while now, figured it was time to share some pics, as the project is done! Woot!
I was originally commissioned by a buddy of mine to make this helmet for his already stellar costume. So this will be the preverbal icing on the cake.
I began by 3D modeling the helmet based on some artwork I was provided, I took creative liberties obviously. I then prepped for print and sent it off to be printed. Once the print arrived, I spent countless hours filling, spraying and sanding until I had the finish looking as damn near perfect as I could.
At that point I prepped it for molding, molded it, doing the A and Wings as separate pieces, that way they could be tinted with aluminum powders, giving people an option for recessed or relief details.
I then prepped the chin cup for print, and did the same steps as above. The strapping was cut and sewn myself as I couldn't find anything I liked out there to do the job right.
She's being sent off to her new owner this week. Pics will be posted of him wearing it when it arrives, be sure of that!
So here are some pics, in chronological order of course...
