That's interesting to hear it confirmed from a respected collector that the vest was sewn to the jacket! I always thought it was strange how that vest seemed to just stick to MJF when he running & sliding on things! Also means that if it ever did show up for auction somewhere, that would be a 'tell' to it's authenticity of being screen used.

If only the private collector could confirm if they still have it...

Unfortunately, due to the nature of this costume a lot of the people who have pieces of it have chosen to keep their ownership a closely guarded secret... especially given the questionable provenance a lot off pieces from this era have. Hell, I have had no fewer than 2 people who managed to find original Guess Jackets in the proper style make me swear not to reveal who they are because of the vitriol in the BTTF community.

It's sad, but hopefully some day we'll get the insights we're looking for.

In the meantime, guess we all have to sew our vests to our jackets now!
