...The dragon's 'face' was also very different from those on either Duncan's or Ramirez' katanas.[/b]

It always reminded me of the "luck dragon" from The Neverending Story. :lol

Kinda funny, i've always wanted to see that thing embodied in tsuka form since i saw the film for the first time in years about a week ago.

interesting stuff guys, keep this thread going.

As for LZeitgeist, can you send me pics of your H2 Ramirez? How did you obtain that when I know the guy who is supposed to have it?

maybe he has a replica because i know a guy who has a h2 as well

but guess what?

I have the studio production used H2 mold. muauahahaha.

I have one (of three, as I was told) screen-used hero Ramirez Katanas from Highlander 2. I acquired mine through Gary Gillies in Glasgow. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the guy who is supposed to have it', but I've owned this one for about 14 years now, and with the money I paid for it, I'm 'the guy who is supposed to have it', no matter who anybody else knows... :lol

Funny, I actually have one of these swords, but I don't know if it's a Marto or not. Is there a way to tell?

I bought it from a local dealer years ago, I don't think it has any distinguishing marks on it. It was more expensive than the rest of my knock-off swords (by a long shot), and it's also the best made (again, by a long shot.. the cheapo knock-offs always fall apart, this one has never given me any trouble). I only bought it because it was "the sword from Highlander". It wasn't even billed as such at the store, it was just another katana, but I recognized the dragon shape.

EDIT: On second look, it doesn't look like the Marto. VERY similar, though. The design on the hilt itself is slightly different, actually missing part of the design from the Marto, yet the hilt appears to be the same length, which is odd.

EDIT AGAIN: On third look, it's not missing anything from the design, but the design has been rearranged. The section closest to the guard on the Marto is in the middle of the handle on mine. It's the same design as the super-cheap knockoffs on Ebay, but I guarantee this one's of better quality.

EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Holy crap, those Marto Conan swords are cheap...

Hmm.. there were 3? The guy I was talking about is Thomas Mullack, who you may know him as vadermania here. From what he's told me, he has THE H2 katana. I'm suprised you dont have yours hanging up there with your "other" hero Braveheart sword. lol

Yes, Thomas Mulack (you don't know how to spell his name?) and I have conversed quite a bit over the years. I've got many pics that we've exchanged of our acquisitions over the years we've known each other, including the Highlander swords he's had access to (including the Toledo Salamanca). He's fully aware of what I have and where I got it, and if he has any question about what it is that I have, he has yet to bring a question up with me... you certainly have no right or reason to do so.

wow that got way off base guys, keep it warm and friendly lol

ok, then maybe you can help me out here.... i acquired this "production used" mold of the H2 hilt from Tom...... but i mean its in TOO good of shape to be THAT old.... or is it?..... anyone know where it came from?

Woah what happened there LZ? he wasn't being hostile, where'd yours come from? Sounds like he's just going off of what someone else had told him....

So David, you planning on doing anything with that mold?? ;) :D

Twice in the course of the thread, he's cast aspersions against the facts that the items I've discussed are screen-used. That's not something that I or anyone else who has worked hard to acquire the Real Deal can or should allow to stand.

Pretty cool that the collar on the marto can be taken off. I think I may try that as I do like the look without the collar better.

I have one of Sal's when he was using the Shinto blades and its really a great sword. One of my favorite pieces in my collection being the highlander fan that I am. Its righ up there with my witchking costume in terms of things I love the best.

hello everyone, My friend Thomas Mulack emailed me and said he is having trouble posting on RPF and asked if i could post this information for him.
the following information is from thomas mulack:

Please be so kind and post on my behalf what I'm writing you now: Hi everybody, unfortunately I am not able to participate in this discussion because Icannot log into this forum at the moment. I just want to add someinformation regarding my H2 screen-used hero sword and the H2 mold thatDavid got from me. I acquired my H2 katana about 10 years ago from Mark Short via ebay. Thesword originally came from Gary Gillies, who acquired it directly fromBabty's. I got it together with three letters, one from Babty's stating thatit was used on-screen by Connery and Lambert, one from Gary and one fromMark. The sword never left my collection since, and I supportedAlbion/FilmSwords with a silicone/plaster mold I made from it for theirHighlander sword line. I have been in touch with Patrick /LZeitgeist for along time now (Hi Patrick BTW, hope everything is fine on your end :)), andwe exchanged many details regarding screen-used Highlander swords. Ipersonally know of 2 screen-used H2 katanas in private collections -Patrick's and mine. Another one was auctioned off some years ago (Christie'sor Sotheby's, I'm not sure), but I was not able to track this one down. Dueto information I found on "The Highlander Sword Shoppers Guide" there musthave been another screen-used H2 katana, probably a stunt version - this onewas also auctioned off many years ago. The original H2 katana tsuka mold that David got from me is from "ThePropstore of London". When I got it, I checked this mold and compared itwith my hero H2 tsuka, and found out that it either is the master mold wheremy H2 tsuka came from or it was taken from my H2 hero tsuka, because detailsin the mold and on the cast postive such as tiny air bubbles/castimperfections are identical. There was a rumour that my original H2 katanawas loaned back to Davis/Panzer in order to create the Katana for Highlander3. So it might be possible that a mold was taken from my H2 katana for theabove reason, which would also make it a production-used item. Hope this helps to clarify things. Cheers, Tom

Thanks for posting that, David, and thanks very much, Tom - your input is much appreciated. Will send a note soon. You're a class act, as always.

Im very glad you post this!! I had NO IDEA that collar was still under there!! lol.. Im gonna try and get my bronze collar off tom. then.. Any advice before i do? Thanks!
Here it is... a bit scarred, though, from use. :ninja

dragonsword2.jpg

I don't remember where I got the extra bit from, but it was a rubbery peice of plastic in the right thickness and color, I just had to cut it to shape and add a little of aging to it.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Leave it to me ;) lol.. for real though, im gonna remove the collar.. I had a broken Dragon handle laying around and i took a dremel to it to see how tough it was gonna be to get off... i think im gonna cut at the bottom side of the neck and around the edges of it and see if i can't take some plyers and get it off without damaging the design underneath...
