Markpoon McFlys on eBay. Scammer - starwear_status01

Re: Markpoon McFlys on eBay. Scammer : starwear_status01

Oki doki. An update.

I have just received this message from the seller xxxxxxx

-----------------

Hi Alan

I am very sorry for the wrong description - I bought these ages ago, well nearly 2 years to be exact - the seller assured me that these were very limited edition - I have tried to revise my auction to rewrite the description and the subtitle - but I will be messaging the bidder and I will explain to him.

I know everyone has a sob story - but I genuinly needed to make some money for christmas, I`m not a scammer or a bad guy - I will do the right thing and message the bidders, and put it right.

I am annoyed that I cant revise the listing - again, I am not a scammer.

Please forgive my naivety.

Kind regards

- xxxxx

To which I replied

Hello,

Fair enough. Anyone can make that kind of mistake.

The correct way to go about this, however, and if I may point it out, is to end the listing, correct it, and then re-list it.

As it stands, you would (inadvertantly as it may be) still be deceiving other potential bidders.

I am sure you will do the right thing.

Kind regards,

Alan

We shall see how genuine he really is, and I will GLADLY remove his name from the thread.

EDIT - added (?) to the thread title for the ones in doubt. Fair enough.

Re: Markpoon McFlys on eBay. Scammers (?) starwear_status01 & scottishray

OK, point one, they ARE scammers, period, crying there innocence is futile and a bit naive with some of the replies we have had from said sellers.

Point two, would you be as shocked and appalled if it were an item of yours in the same situation, your bag say, if you were to mass market it....i really think not.

As for "trawling" Ebay, i think we ALL have that right (and im glad we do), as so many scammers, recasters, and general oxygen theives have been found that way.

Maybe think outside the box a little bit on this one mate.

ALL I SAID IS THAT I KNOW HE IS NOT A MEMBER HERE!
If you are sold something and told it's "limited edition" and you don't know otherwise and then you sell it you are not purposely trying to scam someone are you? no

No I honestly wouldn't as I would have got what I asked for it, once I've sold it I don't care what happens to it, they can sell it for £3000 I don't care! It would also be nice to know that someone like's my piece of work that much he's willing to pay that much money.

But people can see the product themselves, I may be the only one here but when I see anything that I like I buy it, and if someone says that its limited edition I don't give a flying f*ck. I had the opportunity to buy a lot of vintage star wars comics and cards which the guy said where VERY limited edition, but I didn't like them so I didn't. The point I'm trying to make is that people can see and read things for themselves, they don't need a 'guardian' informing them when something is worded wrong.

Maybe it's you who needs to think outside the box "MATE"

Re: Markpoon McFlys on eBay. Scammers (?) starwear_status01 & scottishray

And he has ended the listing. Excellent. He did the right thing.

Now there will be no possibility of other bidders bidding because they think you can't get these anywhere.

As to how much he sells them for, he can put a price of $10,000 for all I care.

As I said earlier, this is about deceit, or as in this case, opening people's eyes so that others won't buy for the wrong reasons.

Proceeding to delete the reference to the name.

.... and done.

As to starwear_status01 . It stays.

Hi alan

I have done the right thing and took the auction down and rewrote the entire thing, and relisted it.

I just wanted to make some money for christmas time as I am out of work at the minute.

I understand your message and thank you for bringing it to my attention, the last thing I would want is to mislead people.

Please get back to me

kind regards

And my reply

--------------------------------

Hi xxxx,

From the outset, I must apologise if any of this has led to any concern and worry from your side.

I come from a prop community where to us, one of the biggest 'sins' is to see people being tricked into buying things they know to be something different.

Since you have followed the link I sent you, you will see that the 'other seller' in question is really up to no good.

I am being especially vigilant with the Nike shoes, due to the current hype with the recent release from Nike.

Unfortunately, there is no way knowing who is genuine and who is not, especially under these unique circumstances.

I am ever so happy that you did the right thing, and, once again, I apologise if any of this has caused you any concern.

We do 'watch out for our own', and, even if you are not 'into props', it is a fascinating hobby even for the observer, please do join the RPF, where we would welcome someone such as yourself with open arms.

Kindest regards from Malta,

Alan

Thanks Lee. Off to down some Sangria with the Mrs. in the garden now, to celebrate the saving of someone from buying something for the wrong reasons, and for finding a decent soul on eBay :) :thumbsup

no there is auction, and some poor B*****d is bidding way over the odds!!!,this guy needs to end this auction now!!:angry:angry:thumbsdown

wow, just wow. i wouldn't expect web-wide praise and fame for them like that guy if i ebay'd a pair, shows how selfish and greedy people can be over such a nice product such as these

What Nike don't know, is what this seller is doing 'behind the scenes'. ie his lies replying to questions, faking a limited number on Mark's 'COA', saying that these are sample Pre-release to the Nike Mag 2011 before they were actually perfected, etc etc etc. And to top it all, saying Markpoon is a recaster !! Despicable.

But why should Nike be concerned about these things even if they knew ? If they are 'willing' to let the auction run, these details would not bother them at all.

This item has also been reported to eBay a gazillion times. It's still there, and as I've been saying, I think it will remain till the end.

Hope I'm wrong though.
