Maps by 'Toy and Propmasters' - Any Experience?

I have the potential of getting a couple of maps that have been previously obtained from a company called 'Toy and Propmasters' I believe.
These are one 'Back to the Future' and one 'Indiana Jones' map.

Examples of the ones I am looking at can be seen on eBay...
Doc Brown Back to the Future DeLorean Map Prop to Marty Mcfly 1885 BTTF | eBay
Rene Belloq

They look to be well detailed but are not necessarily screen accurate.
I like the look of them, but was wondering what other people's thoughts are?
Does anyone have these and have any comments, good or bad?

Any feedback or info great fully received.

This seller is a recaster.

He has been selling the famous Raiders Map which was created and given away for free for ages now.

I don't remember well if its the same seller, but I think he also recast Magnoli's Belloq Floorplan.

More info here

Avoid.

Any updates or confirmations on this guy? I just saw a POTC map on the bay, but didn't know what this seller was all about.

Hi everyone,

Apparently I have been accused of being a "recaster."

The Belloq's Floor plan map, which you are referring to, may look similar to Magnoli's map, but it is an original design that I made from scratch and written by a Frenchman. I have sold my share of these maps through my eBay store and have received only positive feedback. As painters paint and sculptors sculpt, I not only design as an occupation, I design as a hobby. Many of my friends love my designs so much that they recommended that I sell some. The things that I am selling took a lot of effort into making them high quality, yet affordable for everyone interested to enjoy. I may not be as famous as Magnoli but I am a humble person doing what he loves best. I am bringing this to everyone’s attention because I find it unfair being called a “recaster” when I spent hours upon days perfecting the items I sell.

For those who are interested you can find me on eBay by searching for any of the items that I offer such as Belloq’s map.

Thank you for giving the opportunity to defend myself.

Well his Raiders Map and Belloq Map currently listed on eBay certainly seem to be original works (neither design have I seen before). Both are interesting and new takes on these maps, so I wouldn't call either of these recasts.

So he is not the same one discussed here

On the second to last page of that thread DS pointed him out for selling a recast of his map and pointed him out by name.

Thank you.

If you would like to view everything I am offering you may visit my eBay store. I am also uploading my photos to the Your Props website. Here you can see some of the items I have in great details

Some memory jogging needed here I think.

Unless you are a different Ed Garcia, then this post

Now this auction shouldn't even be up for debate! This dude's not just selling ''one item from his personal collection'', but it looks like he's making them for the sole purpose of selling 'em! (Go get him Pat! :angry)

Indiana Jones Raiders Ark Prop Golden Idol Temple Map | eBay

Indiana Jones and the
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Replica Prop Golden Idol Temple Map

This three piece golden idol temple map is seen for several seconds in the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. (See photo #6 for the movie screen shot of the map). It is a MUST HAVE affordable replica prop to add to any Indy collection! This map was constructed based on Indy's travels on his way to the lost temple. The map is large and worthy of framing. When combined together as shown on the first photo, it measures an impressive 24” wide X 16” high! It has been aged using various computerized techniques. The edges have been burned off with real fire for that added authenticity. The back of it has also been aged to match the front. (See image # 5 for viewing the back of the map). It is professionally printed, double sided, on a high quality heavy bond premium paper.

Feel free to e-mail me at edgarcia@optonline.net with any questions that you may have. This particular item ships worldwide. I use UPS Ground service for all continental US domestic shipping and USPS for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and all other international service for worldwide shipping. Please ask me for the shipping rates to your outer states or country before bidding. Lastly due to the nature of "fire" all maps sold will have a slight but very mimimal variation to them in the center hole on the left map (See image # 4), but all will all look just like the photos. It is this slight variation that makes every map sold unique. Please check out my other replica props and collectible toys, thank you for looking and happy bidding!!!

... refers to this map you were selling, and the link in the above quote still directs to your eBay account :

... which is an original design created by Darth Saber here and distributed for free for personal use.

You may be selling a different one nowadays, but you were selling the map shown above.

As I said in my previous post in this thread, I didn't remember if you were the one also selling Magnoli's Map, and having just rechecked, I still cannot tell as the eBay links are now dead.

There is no doubt, however, regarding the Raiders map.

Let's just hope that means he has learned his lesson and will create unique designs from now on.

I have learned plenty from the "trade" called eBay, some bad, but mostly good.
After the original designer of the map (shown in the above image) contacted me saying that it was his property, I immediately shut down the auction because I did not want to plagiarize. I may have been naïve with my first auction, but I definitely will not repeat that mistake and I am 100% original.

I hope not everybody writes the past in stone and we could all turn over a new leaf.

No harsh feelings,
ED

So you did not want to plagiarise from the outset ?

Yet knowing full well that the map was not your design, you put it up on eBay (aka - plagiarising) ..... for $40 a pop.

....... and only shut it down when the original designer contacted you.

...... because you didn't want to plagiarise.

Am I missing something here :confused

Naive is what it is called nowadays ?

I know it as deliberately stealing someone's work to make money.

No harsh feelings, just calling a spade a spade.

Whether or not you may turn over a new leaf on here, is entirely up to the mods though.

Alan,
Even though I am fairly new to this board, I am not new to the business nor dealing with individuals like you. I have been VERY patient with your little remarks lately. No harm came of this and the owner of the original map and I came to a mutual understanding that is why I took it down. I sell what I sell to put my daughter through college. All of the profits go directly to fund her schooling. If that is the crime you are referring to then I am guilty of helping her.

Call it what you may but EVERYONE makes mistakes. To quote the good book, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Everything that I am selling is original. If you want to keep digging in the past that is up to you. I now realize that your avatar fits you just fine.

Good day Sir,
ED

Let me get this straight, so you DID sell a map that was the result of someone elses hard work.

Enjoy your brief stay here because this community does not support the likes of people like you.

I find it funny that when cornered, all recasters and prop thiefs try to pull at our heart strings. "I sell to send my kid to college". And when first caught, it was "to buy Christmas presents" :lol
He states he made a mistake and didn't know he was crossing a line, but I offer his first response to being called out:

"Wow! Well, I didn't notice a copy right on the map. I bought the Raiders Map on ebay about 8 months ago (not from you) so I should be able to sell it again on ebay if I so choose. Copyrighted merchandise is sold on ebay every day. Also, I am taking no credit for the creation or production of the map. You could have asked me to remove the map from my listing. Instead, you deny me from much needed Christmas shopping funds by suddenly having it removed. If you're upset that someone, somewhere, took your map picture and sold it, deal with it! Don't be petty."

"I bought the Raiders Map on ebay about 8 months ago (not from you) so I should be able to sell it again on ebay if I so choose. "

Considering it was a multiple listing for 10 copies, at $40 each, I find the use of 'it' rather amusing :lol

Anyway, he's no longer with us, so that's the end of this one :sleep

I was doing some searching on eBay and I saw that this fellow is now selling a Grail Diary mailing wrapper. He's using a different type of mailing paper, so the vertical lines are much more pronounced than the real one.

Unfortunately, instead of just showing his final work and being honest, he used Photoshop on an original screencap so its more like his own wrapper.

Real screencap:

Just a heads-up to anyone who might have been interested in this.
