Made from genuine leather and are just small enough to fit in your fist
Pouches are $25 and will come with a metal clasp and leather lace.
It's $5 shipping per order, or $12 if you're outside the USA. Shapeways has it's own shipping set up so you can choose your shipping options from them if you end up ordering that version. payments@custom3dstuff.com for paypal
Notes:
NFC chips and come pre-programmed and only in the resin model. The chip is unlocked so if you know what you're doing you can reprogram it. The chip I'm using I had custom manufactured for a specific size, and to be waterproof so it doesn't get ruined in the liquid resin. It also is using the chip which is defined to be the standard for all NFC phones. some very old phones which support NFC may have been made before this standard was created. The chip I'm using will work on almost all Android phones as long as NFC is enabled in your settings. For a very well maintained list of phones that meet the standard and will work with this chip, check out this link. It won't work on iPhones since Apple has restricted the use of NFC solely for Apple Pay so they can take even more of your money. It'll still be cool to show off to your friends on their phones.
As you all know, it was hard to get a good look at the prop on screen, but we do have the VD model available to us. The lightly colored one with red painted squares seen in the VD doesn't have the same finish as the one we saw on screen, which was dark and metallic looking. As we get a better look at the screen used one, we may notice more details which I may incorporate into future revisions, and may not. I just wanted to put this out there. The models I'm currently offering were based on mostly the VD model's shape, and the screen used one's appearance.
The static plastic and functioning versions are both ready to ship. Static plastic Shapeways ones will never run out, functioning version I have 25 available now. Metal ones will be ready in about two weeks. I won't have clasps for the pouches until the end of the month either. If you pay and include payment for pouch with clasp, I'll hold your order until the clasps come in to ship it all at once. Your order will ship when everything you order is ready to be shipped. I'm not parting it out or making multiple shipments.
Please add up your total and send it to payments@custom3dstuff.com via PayPal and be sure to leave a note of what you're paying for on PayPal.

It's a pretty simple model to create, but I decided to have some fun with some electronics. I'll be making this as both a static and a functioning prop. I've got several screencaps I'm working off of, plus this photo Dr Talyn uploaded from the Visual Dictionary.
I'll certainly be making a few for me and my friends but wanted to see the interest here on the site. I don't have a price quote yet but I can't imagine resin-cast plastic static ones costing that much at all, so for a cheap version that'd be the way to go.
I've got some metal casting skills, so I can whip those out to make a heavy real metal static version, and of course your standard 3d printed version as another option as well. I'm still in the brainstorming phase, but will continue to press forward to make this happen quickly.
For those interested in something special, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. If any of you have seen my BSG Blood and Chrome necklace you'll recognize this trick. I plan to add functionality to the piece through the use of Near Field Communication. The final piece will be loaded with an NFC tag that will load the image from the film when tapped to a cellphone.
I'm also thinking a USB flash drive in addition to the NFC tag, so you can use it yourself for data storage, .
Also lights. Gotta have those blue lights on the bottom, so we'll see how much room we have in there.
For a preview of how it will work, check out the BSG Blood and Chrome pendant build thread and working video here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=172966&page=2&p=3334123&viewfull=1#post3334123.
You'll be able to tap the device to an NFC enabled cell phone pretty much all new smartphones except for apple) and it'll load the image, or more likely a .gif file of the scene.

Ok, cool update...

The embedded NFC chip now loads a random .gif file. It shows one of three mini-scenes from the film. One is when Leia sees the map for the first time, one is bb-8 rolling out and displaying it, and the third is bb8 inserting it into r2's map. The link changes randomly between these three, every 30 seconds, so each tap to a phone might not be the same as the next. Check the video for a demo, and a closer look at the resin version:
I also tracked down a nice side of dark leather that'll match well to what we saw.

It's the Map to Skywalker, so I plan on having the NFC tag link to an image of the map, just like it does in the film.
