Man of Steel (Pre-release)

I really hope your right. I've really yet to be wowed by Snyder, although I enjoyed The Watchmen.

Oh believe me, I hope so, too. Like I said I haven't seen MOS of course, however I have high hopes. I LOVE Donner's films very much, but I'll take anything over the Singer outing (though I may eat those words after June 14th, ha ha).

No matter what anyone says about the film so far, I'm just glad that we're not getting another Real Estate-obsessed Luthor.

I do believe the original script had Luthor trying to force the Kent's off their farm to build Smallvill's first mega mall once he found out the new highway was being built nearby ;)

Damn, Jet Beetle wrote that screenplay for Sky High?! :sick J/K

Although, funnily enough, I just watched it this weekend.

So, in Sky High, the girl who was the bad guy, what was her ultimate motivation for being a super villain? The fact that she didn't have good super powers?

And hopefully Zod has a good reason for wanting to destroy Supes and for being able to carry around an army...

Nothing at all from this end. I liked that movie. But MoS is going to be much much better, i think.

Sky High was made for 30m plus change - the bill for MOS clocks in close to 260m (factoring in the sequel contracts) - Comparing the two - one a kids movie, MOS an overblown special effects showcase - is a little unfair - but I say Sky High has one thing MOS doesn't have --- KURT RUSSELL!

I saw MOS recently ( 85% finished) and it's from the same studio that brought you Green Lantern - did ja know that? LoL

But it does have RUSSELL CROWE - who has been known to be a little Curt with people at times...and thats good enough for me! LOL

Seriously though, I am really looking forward to this, and I know I'm going to enjoy it.

And Jet Beetle...I LOVED Sky High...as did my kids...and my wife (which is rare). I applaud you for a Nurf Family Full House.

I'm glad you liked it - and trust me, one day when IMDB catches up with everything I've worked on Sky High will be last on the list of things to "call me out" on. LOL

So... apparently Man of Steel is now about Kurt Russell vs. Russel Crowe. Tough call... but only one has been Elvis and a fireman. :D

The review posted above gives me a very little bit of hope... because this movie looks depressing. But, it says "Nolan story" and I lose that hope.

Hey Jet, for the record, I loved Sky High! My previous comment was not to "call you out" but rather to just have a little fun comparing super hero movies. If I enjoy MOS half as much as I've enjoyed Sky High (several times now) I will be happy. Too often I find myself measuring something (like a movie) against what it could/should have been. Rarely do pictures live up to those expectations. Instead, I try to simply enjoy the entertainment. Otherwise, I'd be frustrated with H'wood all the time.

IMDB seems to often be a "do it yourself" update project. My own page is woefully lacking compared to my production resume, but I have never bothered to forward update information.

Thanks, man that really means a lot to me. I only wish they,d left the screenplay alone two drafts previous. There were way more original characters, situations and relationships - ( Layla was supposed to end up with Warren Peace). It's hard for me to not notice the smog where there was once story - but I was so quick to leave SH to go write Greatest American Hero.

Back to Superman - y'know how JJ Trek had the luxury of showing amped special effects where as the original Trek thru Enterprise didn't feel the need to rely on the eye candy - Man of Steel operates the same way - if you pay attention to the trailers there's almost no shots without a special effect of some kind.

Comparing JJ Abrams movie with a multi-million dollar budget to television episodes with no more than a million dollar budget (for the most recent series) isn't a "logical" comparison. :confused

Man, it's a good thing they "didn't feel the need to," because they absolutely would not have been able to!
Really quite convenient, if you think about it.

What I'm trying to say is a good story (which is what a movie should be) can be sold to the public with ease be it by log line or one or two scenes delivering the premise - if you're anything like me - this is what you're hoping to get
