Man of Steel (Pre-release)

New TV Spot from the UK. Gives a quick glimpse of Zod using heat vision. Pretty cool.

Don't tell me that this doesn't move you more with this score. Music can change everything. They both move me. But JW will always move me more.

Man of Steel Trailer 3: John Williams Re-Edit/Re-Score - YouTube

Using that score is almost cheating. The original Superman score is among the best in film history, and I love it. I mean LOVE it. As in it is a formative part of my childhood. Though I found myself smiling like a big dopey kid again while I watched that, about 3/4 way through the trailer started to look like a bad 80's montage. The visuals just didn't go with the music. That score would be a crutch for this film. It needs to sink or stand on it's own, and it will never sully Superman: The Movie for me either way.

TOO MUCH AWESOMENESS

I do like seeing our US Military's gear being destroyed...You know **** just got real when someone crash head first into your A-10

The score, meh, it hardly has the high notes I was expecting, but I did just skim through. The film does seem to have some exciting moments that have me interested.

Cool! My little opinion is actually ruining this 250m+ summer movie. And whoever said I liked Sky High? I like the money for a screenplay I wrote in a month. And as of Thursday - you have no idea what I've seen - guess what.. My opinion stays the same.

Liked this article over on ComicBookMovie.com. Part of an interview with Grant Morrison (writer for All-Star Superman). This quote was regarding the twist in Iron Man 3, but honestly relates to any comic book movie where things in a film are different than things presented in the original source material.:

"In Australia, Aboriginal artists, every generation goes in and repaints the cave paintings. And they all tell the same stories over generations. And that's what we do. The human species tells the same stories over and over again. Stories of heroes and villains. And I think we have to update them for each new generation. Any fans who cling on to maybe a version of something they read when they were children are really just hanging on to a past. The world's moved on. There's new children. They want their version of it. So I think it's very important to freshen these things up and to update them and to move them forward and to look at them in the context of all the things we're interested in now."

I have a feeling that Iron Man 3 is going to look like Casablanca compared to this film.

Not a chance.

***Spoiler***

Iron Man 3 would have been the best in the series had it not been for the Mandarin twist. As soon as they saw what Kingsley was doing with the character they should have re-written it. That pretty boy was the real Mandarin? His character was the weakest in the film. Your hero is only as good as your villain and Stark got off easy in the end.

I've not seen Man of Steel but I can't see it making that level mistake.

Wow, a lot of personal attacks in here. Y'all need to hug it out.

The problem I have with that Grant Morrison quote is if the aboriginals paint over the old paintings then the old work no longer exists at all. It's one thing to reinterpret the same story in a new way that exists separately from it's predecessors, it's another to destroy the predecessor completely and replace it with the new version. For all the decrying changes in reboots or new adaptations at least the previous versions still exist to be enjoyed.

I really hope your right. I've really yet to be wowed by Snyder, although I enjoyed The Watchmen.

Not a chance.
