Does anyone know for a fact if the character will actually be referred to as "Superman" in the film? I have a strange feeling they'll pull a Selina Kyle with the nomenclature.

I think the "bleep" in the trailer may have answered my question.

Goosebumps. Choked up and teary eyed. Seen it several times already and I still can't stop watching the new Man of Steel trailer. Loved the music.

I am a HUGE Superman fan, always have been, and always will be. This movie has my attention, and after seeing the new trailer, June 14th can't get here fast enough.

Seeing the images of the military "capturing" Superman, and what seems to be an interrogation/interview with Lois in the new trailer, this made my mind flash to images from Superman: Earth One, where Superman is greeted with some fear and distrust, and honestly if someone were to show up with those powers, people would FREAK. The comics have the advantage where it can be an idealized world where superheroes are accepted right away, but in the real world that trust would have to bea earned the hard way.

Purists may have many issues with this film, and I completely understand that. Every Superman fan has their favorite version of the character they hold dear and seeing something that doesn't match that interpretation is definitely off putting. But I think that we are going to be getting a version of Superman that rings true to the core of the character. We may be getting a semi-Nolanized view of the last son of Krypton, I believe that just that one line of him saying "It's not an S. On my world it means hope", informs so much of who this character is. Taking the weight of wearing that symbol and exposing your powers to the world to be a force for good, that screams Superman to me.

I'm very excited for this movie, and I hope it delivers for all of the fans of the man of steel.

This trailer really brings out the reasoning for The Deadliest Catch scenes as well.

I have a feeling that Lois will ultimately coin the name Superman for him. Maybe they won't say it aloud, but perhaps they'll show Lois writing up a story or interview from the time Supes was in custody and have a close up of her typing "Superman".

The thing that actually really got me from the trailer for some reason was Jor-El's asking "How?" when Lara worried about us killing Kal-El. I really did not care for the cute "How about S -" moment. It felt totally out of place even in the trailer. I hope it plays better in the film.

Well, based on the score heard in the trailer, my hopes have gone up.

Granted, it's not John Williams's Superman Theme (without a doubt one of the greatest scores of all time), but it's worthy of Superman and a bazillion times better than the solo vocal in the previous trailers.

It would be kinda cool if, when he's a kid, accidentally grazed his hands with his heat vision the first time it activated. That could be a good enough backstory if those are real scars on Cavill's hands, and would reduce the need for makeup to cover them up. :lol

Yep - especially when it comes to storytelling. What I'm not is a novice - I've seen enough films packaged and sold to know just how studios package air but tell you it's bread. I don't pass judgement by simply the trailers and horrible sneak pics - I've read the screenplay (1 draft short of the shooting script - so I have no idea if there are tidbits changed or altered), I know Zack Snyders work - Sucker Punch and Watchmen did nothing for me - I heard the studio is excited about the movie after watching a rough cut - that right there is the deathstroke. I can't remember a time in history where a film the studio is all giddy about is worth the price of admission. Studios are as far removed from what people want as it gets.

I think the reason I have such a problem with this is I am a HUGE Superman fan - I have a Superboy costume from the tv show on display right next to my desk - and I want a good to great movie from these people and I know it aint gonna happen - just like last time. I can put up with all the little Smallvilles and Lois and Clarks but when time comes to drop serious coin on a new Superman movie - I want to be excited about it - nothing in this trailer does that. Not one single shot.

I have an invite to come see this thing about 3 weeks before it's released and I'm considering throwing it away and staying home.

Well, after hearing all this, I have no doubt you'll be disappointed. I did that once before, reading the screen play before the movie came out... and I'll never do it again. I only did it because my hopes were really REALLY high. Too high. It's hard to set expectations for things you have zero control over and not come out disappointed. Hopefully, you'll be pleasantly surprised. While you may know the script, great performances by actors (and there's quite the list of good ones here) can bring subtle nuances to a line that just reading it off a page doesn't evoke. I've been impressed so far with what I've seen from Kevin Costner... looking forward to what the rest of this has to offer.

We've only seen maybe 5 minutes of total footage in all the previews/sneaks shown so far. The movie is listed as 2hr 18m on IMDb... that leaves a lot we haven't experienced yet. I'd just suggest dialing back your expectations just a tad, and allow yourself the opportunity to enjoy it. It's not like Superman leaves the pages of the comics every day.

Like I said above, I don't think they've shown too much of the film so far. All most every trailer/sneak shown so far is about 75% rehashed/re-edited footage from the original sneak shown at last year's SDCC.
