--His suit should look "other-worldly". Hello, he's from another planet. The texture and bulkiness on the suit makes it look more like...a suit of armor.

Seeing how the character has survived without an "other-worldly" suit since 1938, doing this now is nothing more than distracting.

--The red undies are finally gone...THANK YOU!!! If you wore brightly colored undies on the outside of your super-suit paints, do you think anyone would take you seriously?

So your "other-worldly" design acceptance only applies when it coms to disco ball blue and shimmering red. Gotcha

--The pleated look of the cape is awesome! Very regal and majestic. It gives that broad shoulder look.

Two words - Lois and Clark.

--Brass belt looks very cool so far from what I can see.

--Hair curl gone. Was never important to me and it made him look like a wuzzy anyway.

Are you ever going to do the Kryptonian shirts - i sure hope so. You mock ups were awesome!

--Colors are finally done right. None of this brightly colored comic-book stuff.

I felt the same way when they colorized some of those stupid old black and white movies. Shirley Temple looks so much better singing Animal Crackers with teal bleeding from her ears.

He finally looks like someone who comes from a place called Krypton. I'm even more jazzed about this reboot than before.

One of the producers of "Kick-Ass" said, "Different types of media require different methods of storytelling." In otherwords you can't do a direct interpretation from comic to screen and expect people to take it seriously. Change is not only inevitable, IT IS DEMANDED! Without recognizing that, you will be left in the dust.

Change is a good thing - i especially like when people CHANGE things back to the way they were - which will happen. If it ain't broke, don't fix it and so far the only thing that's truly been broke when it comes to Superman is the story they come up with to turn into a 200mil dolar movie.

Everyone will like or dislike the new costume because everyone has their own idea of what they think Superman should look like. The fact is, the suit has changed so much since its conception nearly 80 years ago we should expect change. It's certainly identifiable as Superman in a modern "real world" interpretation. Stop trying to compare new with the old. If you don't, you'll never like anything new. Embrace change.

Personally I think this costume is the best "real world" interpretation yet. I say "real world" because more and more people are jumping on this bandwagon since Nolan applied it to Batman. Finally, FINALLY the right people are working on Superman. Nolans approach is taking what people were not taking seriously and slapping them upside their heads. Comic book based movies are finally getting the recognition they deserve and it's because of visionarries like Nolan and his team. It's about friggin time.

@TGG: sorry buddy, this time I disagree with you. I can't recognize the general image of Superman - and I think that's what most of us, who critisize the new Superman, are thinking.

Bright red, blue and yellow costume with a diamond shaped "S", red boots, red trunks, red cape, spitcurl. The face is also a topic of debate, it depends on, with which time-periode Superman you 've grown up with. If you're a 80's kid, you've seen Curt Swan/John Byrnes/Dan Jurgens Supes, which is perfectly embodied by Chris Reeve, who brought the comic figure to life, with his performance of the bumbling Ken and all-time helping Supes. It was the perfect comic apdation to the big silver screen as it can be (minus the last two of Reeve's). And the first impression was very lasting.

I agree, he's just not right for the part but you never know, I may change my mind once I see the movie. I do love Superman and I definitely can't wait to see the movie none the less...

His suit looks a lot like the suit that Brandon Routh wore in "Superman Returns" though. I don't know, I will always prefer the old Superman suit that George Reeves and Christopher Reeves wore...

umm... nope, this one has a HUGE shield (Routh's was tiny), this one looks like rubber (routh's looked like spandex), this one looks like it has scales (routh's had the shield printed all over it), This one has no red Boxers (Routh's had them... sort of).

Routh's looked like rubber to me. Either way, it's still different from the older Superman suits and I prefer those better...

I'll way this: even without the 'S' shield on the back of it, that cape looks amazing.

Too bad what we've seen of the rest of the costume doesn't.

I was pretty peeved when I saw that Routh's cape did not have the shield...now I'm even more upset to see that Snyder has made the same design decision. Why? From the back, that cape makes him look like any generic superhero or heroic character....it's the "S" shield that tells you "THIS is Superman"!
Otherwise, the length of the cape is fantastic! The fabric looks nice too.

Red briefs or no red briefs seems to be a matter of age groups. Us older guys would rather they remain as part of the costume. The younger crowd doesn't.

I, too, wondered as a wee lad why Superman's undies where on the outside. But then I also remember seeing wrestlers with the same type of thing going on. So I realized, it's part of the costume.

The costume is as iconic as the character. The briefs should stay, otherwise it's just an old style set of longjohns like you see in the westerns. And don't those guys look silly in just their lonjohns and cowboy boots.

I'm ok with the loss of the shield on the back of the cape for some reason. However, the rest of the costume is just abysmal - no excuse for a SCUBA Superman without his shorts - looks terrible.

...and what DC's doing is worse than this.
