Man in the Iron Mask Musketeer Tabard - Need Input

Hey folks,
I really want to put one of these tabards together. It's the black Musketeer tabard from the Man in the Iron Mask. Here are some photos and a mock up I did for a potential pattern.

I am not sure how this would go together. It seems relatively simple, sans the crest and excessive buttons.

I think I'm just gonna wing it and do a mock up and then one in cotton velvet. But any insight and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Here are the pics:

It looks to me that the tabbards are actually closed on the side seams, and the sleeve is a two-piece that opens in the front. Think of it like you took a suit and opened up the seam that runs down the front of your sleeve.
The pattern you posted is more of a cape for the sleeve. Its designed to go over your head and basically just sit there.

Also note the collar and the wings (those silver things at the shoulders).

Was going through the different threads on here and came across this. Hope your tabard turned out well. For anyone looking for something premade there's a site called authentic wardrobe that has a musketeer section. They have a Man in the Iron mask style tabard on there.

Here's a detail shot of the cross they used for their tabard

Here's a link to the page. Musketeer

They're not cheap but the quality is very nice. I have their tabard based on the Disney Musketeer movie. If you do order from them I would stay on top of your order. It took a long time for me to actually get stuff from them. They're not too keen on keeping the site updated either. They have some pretty nice uniforms that go with the tabard as well if you want to do a complete outfit.

Just wanted to bump this thread and see if anyone had any other thoughts on making this. A wonderful person in my life has offered to make me one.

Hey! I found this on accident. I'm starting cutting out peices about 7 months ago to make this for my 5- now 6 year-old. But then he wanted to be captain hook. I'm I finished his captain hook costume and was now going to go back to finish this musketeer costume up. I was looking for screen shots to start a thread on this costume. I was looking for screen shots and stumbled on this thread!

So i'm taking different pattern pieces and creating some of my own. But the detailed cross some one posted earlier I used that picture to digitize my own version (VERY VERY SIMILAR). My embroidery machines only go so big. I think my Viking SE has a lager square hoop I can get and sew bigger designs but for my sons costume what I have will work. I would love to collaborate with someone on this. Like I said I'm getting ready to start my own thread on this.

The best part is the boots my son wore for his Captain Hook costume he can ware with this costume. We WILL be ready for Ohio Ren Fair 2012!!!!

The Men's 1630's Cassock and Musketeer Cape Pattern is awesome, be sure to measure and size accurately on it. I use Reconstructing History oatterns for all my Cavalier stuff, they rock! good luck and be sure to show us pics!

Thank you silentknight229 for the detail pic of the cross. I have been wanting to make this for a long time.
