No solid lead version? The lead version is only 47 pounds. If your going to do it, why not go all out. Of course you'll need wax copies and plaster molds...but it can be done.
Those were the options that I thought would be most popular. But if someone did want solid lead, I can do that too.

I can't wait to see an extremely accurate replica of the Maltese Falcon, I don't mind who makes it I just want one...
I'm a very hard person to please and am pretty sure I have OCD when it comes to props and comparing replicas to the originals!!!

Would love to see some progress photos and learn about your methods obtaining accurate measurements. Can't wait to see this one. If you're keeping a notification list, please add me to it!
Once I get the bird to a point where I'm satisfied that everything is in the right place I intend to post pics so that you guys can help me spot anything I might have missed. But right now, for the sake of the creative process, it's better that I work it out myself first before opening it up to critiques. At that time I'll also show you methods used so you can see how I got there.
Thought I should mention that there will be a slight delay. I had expected to be done with the sculpt earlier this week, but due to a family medical emergency I had to leave town on Tuesday and wasn't able to work any on the bird this week. But I'm back in the lab tommorrow and should have something for you shortly.

Good luck on the Falcon, Ozymandius. I m sure it will turn out very well with great detail from what i seen in your other pieces.
Almost got a haunted studio one but after seeing Adam's video and reading the threads here, i think I will wait for one of your base statues (Don't know if when Adam will get around to his run and I dont want to drop bronze one on my toe.)

All I can say is 'WOW'! I stumbled upon this website through CoinOpSpace.com. I am searching for reproduction sideart for an upright Star Wars video game cabinet I am restoring.
I have to say that what this site does is straight up my alley. I seem to go into OCD mode when items come my way. It almost doesn't matter what it is but I need it to be accurate by any means. The 'Maltese Falcon' seems to be a 'Holy Grail' sort of object. Especially if you've watched Adam Savage's lecture on YouTube.
My interest is piqued with Ozymandius' entries. I hope it comes out great. Please let me know when a version is available for purchase. I'm into everything so my name will start appearing throughout the site. Take care all...

The color is interesting. Was the original this color, and we only assume it was black because the film was black and white?

Oh man, I don't know if that was the color of the falcon when it was used on screen (probably wasn't), but it looks gorgeous like that.
I know... I am tempted to repaint my replica to match it!!

With regards to the Resin Falcon I can't see why it would have been another colour to what we see above. I believe it just looked black on screen, this is just my thoughts and maybe someone more in the know will be able to tell you. Although I like the colour of the Resin bird I prefer how we see the other replicas out there, almost black looking. (then again....???)

I've always thought that the resin Falcon's coloration was due to wear rubbing the orginal paint off, leaving raw/aged resin visible. Remember, resin was not a common prop-making tool back then, so who knows what sort of crazy formula they used, and what it's base color was originally. It could have been sitting in a window causing its color to change.
Just look at all the places that would get less wear on them, they are still black. I'm sticking to my guns that what we're seeing is natural weathering. I know we're all so used to seeing artificial weathering, it might just be hard to recognize it when we see the real thing.
