Maltese Falcon

Hi Adam-- I've been watching your thread on the "Savage Blaster" and have been extremely impressed!!

Obviously you've been busy with several projects, but was wondering if your Maltese Falcon has gotten any closer to the top of your "to do" list? I have one of the crappy eBay Haunted Studio's falcons that is broken, and I don't want to spend the money to replace it with just another crappy version. I'm just looking forward to your offering and hoping it's moved closer to the top of your project list! :)

I saw the lecture on youtube...I waited for the registration period on this site... just to post this one request...

Adam, If you do a dingus run, I would sincerely like to be on the list for one.

Thanks,
Ben

Adam,

For a while now I have quietly been interested in one of these, if you go ahead with a run I could very well be interested.

Thanks,

Andy

Count me in for one of your Falcons. It is the entire reason I came here, after seeing the video regarding your efforts. Ive been wanting a decent Falcon forever. I ordered a Haunted Studios one from Ebay and proptly returned it. I dont know who gave them such good reviews on their version because I was angry as soon as I opend the box, and I am not very picky at all.

On a side note, there seems to be so much interest in owning movie prop replicas, how come they are so hard to come by? I have a long list of ones I want and would pay good money for all of them. If I had talent I would make them, but alas, no dice. I am working on a Ghostbusters uniform, but that isnt necessarily talent, just collecting and assembling.

I know what you mean. It definitely leaves alot to be desired. I've got a Maltese Falcon from The Haunted Studios myself, and I just consider it a "place-holder" until a decent one comes along. (Hopefully sooner rather than later! :))

I find it interesting that the Falcon makes an appearance in both Agent Booth's office from "Bones" as well as General Beckman's office on "Chuck".

Just makes me want one that much more...

As I watched Adam's video about making his falcon, I was so jealous. He had several in case that he had made and even the worst of those was many orders of magnitude higher than anything from Haunted Studios. I just wanted to yell at my computer screen "send me one of those!"

Anyone know if Adam Savage's project to do an accurate reproduction is still on? It's been quite along time since an update.

If not I'd be interested in any leads on speaking with the owner of one of the known original falcons for a laser scan.

This is My number 2 most wanted prop (#1 is a screen accurate Flux Capacitor for my Delorean im working on it)
So If you make one available Adam we will kneel thank you and well you know open pocket books LOL :lol

hey guys...I'm a film buff and have seen the 1941 version many times, Great film if rather convoluted at times plot wise, but regardless.... I have wanted an accurate version for years. currently there is a version that looks pretty good but I am not an expert on "da bird' as far as details and scale...maybe somebody out there can take a look at this one currently on Ebay and give some opinions.....

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to post links to live auctions unless its your own. You could always just post the photo if you're asking for an opinion though.

Better than most eBay offerings but, based on the photo in the listing, not 100% accurate.

I helped MK with his bird. I made the molds for him and what not. I know MK took a long time researching it and made every attempt to do it justice. It is a very nice piece and still don't have one yet :eek
Just to let you all know the real bird is currently at the NRA museum in Fairfax Virginia. They have a special movie and TV guns showing and they have a section for Bogart's films (y)thumbsup I think they allow cameras....:angel

Cheers,
Jeff

Just to let any other Maltese Falcon fans know, I am currently about 80% done with a brand new, hyper-accurate sculpt of the dingus. It's taking me a bit of time because I am matching everything up from measurements taken from the auctioned bird and double checking them with high-res screen captures from the film. This is a meticulous milimeter by milimeter reproduction.

Once complete, I intend to offer a few different versions to give options based on taste and budget. There will of course be the base resin and plaster birds, gold plated, and the full-out cold cast bronze piece which will replicate not just the look, but the heft and feel of the original.

And for anyone who's wondering if I can deliver on all this, feel free to check out some of the work I did for Harry Potter as a reference.
