Maltese Falcon

This has to be the best reproduction of the classic falcon I have ever seen.

Now how about an accurate Lon Chaney wolf man cane head?
(Sorry just needed to say that)

Fantastic work OZ!!! :thumbsup

I've been looking closely at MK's, Adams, Haunted Studios... and of course your bird. I have to say I think you have done it, yours has to be the most accurate replica to date!!!

Can't wait to see the other versions you do!!

Looks like its made from chocolate. I wanna eat it ... Jummy... Very nice work :)
Is it slushcast /rotocast or solid?

Thought I would share another photo with you guys. I am guessing some of you will have already seen this, but some might not have...

I believe this is the one that went walkabout from John's Grill... although I could be wrong.

EDIT: I was wrong, see lastdiplomats post further down!

I've always thought that was the plaster version given to John's Grill as well, but given the coloring/patina and the little ding on the nose, I actually think it's Dr. Milan's lead bird being displayed at the restaurant for a publicity photo.

I've also seen this photo in a NY Times article about the theft:

14falcon.xlarge1.jpg

The text under the photo says it was taken at John's Grill in March 2005 and shows the stolen bird. Can anyone who went to John's Grill and saw the one on display confirm it was this one? If the photo I posted is actually the bird they had at the restaurant, then it looks like the Haunted Studios replica and not, as the restaurant always claimed, an original plaster version from the film.

There's still a big question about whether or not any plaster versions were ever made. MK believes none of the so-called plaster versions are real, but I've read articles stating some have been authenticated. Not sure which to believe since I haven't seen any confirmed photos of a plaster bird yet.

On a related note, as I mentioned earlier, the resin bird is back on the auction block. Details and a (new?) photo are available here: Maltese Falcon Statue Auction

I visited a place in Chicago, on Addison years ago, called Metro Golden Memories.

They specialized in Movie and old time radio memorabilia, They had a copy of the Maltese Falcon for sale, it looked really accurate if I remember correctly.

I always planed to return and pick one up but unfortunately never made it back there, a shame really because I did live in the Chicago at the time and had plenty of opportunities to return, but never did.

Been kicking myself silly ever since, for failing to purchase it when I had the chance.

Looking for the perfect complimentary piece to display along side Ozzy's masterpiece? How about the unique semi automatic revolver used to dispatch Miles Archer?

This one is for sale on gunbroker.com

Too rich for my blood. I'd love to see one of our well heeled forum members pick this up and make it available to be replicated for the tribe.

Anyone interested? I'd be willing to pitch in on this project.

That would be awsome, but way, way, WAY outside of my spending range (even for a partial contribution to collectively buy it.) :(

Great find Fresno!!

You *****. You just knew I'd HAVE to make one of these, didn't you? :lol

Well if enough of you guys would be interested in a cold cast metal one, I'm up for doing the job. I've already got a good supply of reference pics and a source for all the dimensions.

Allright guys, the wait is almost over. I finally have all the materials on hand and will begin production Monday morning. The official Junkyard sale thread will be up sometime this weekend. I just need to do the last two demo casts of the weighted resin bird and the Bronze Art bird, and we'll be set to go.

I've taken my time with all the casting prep because, with the large number of orders I'm facing, I wanted to make sure it would run smoothly and that everyone would get their order in a timely manner. Turn around time from payment to delivery should be no more than a week for those in the US.

However, the costs of the materials and the time involved is more than I originally estimated, so the price will correspondingly have to be adjusted. Full details will be posted in the Junkyard.
