I was at a Sci-Fi event the other day so I decided to finish of my Mal costume for it.

It's pretty gorram accurate apart from the coat not being deerskin.

Did you made it yourself? I'm just asking because I have THIS PATTERN somewhere in my drawer that I intend to use as a base for my own browncoat. I was wondering if it's a good start or if I should use something else...

Yeah that looks like a good start. Just adapt the pattern so your seams will be in the right places. There are front and back pics in the Firefly companion Vol. 1 Which will help you with the seams

I put it all together myself. I am in the UK, so some things were not easy to obtain (like the frontier pants) so I had to make my own.

I am also making this frock coat, did you also have trouble with the collar? Any advice appreciated.
