Making of the first Godzilla suit video.

Here is the link again to the James Rolfe Godzillathon reviews of all movies.
Good way to get familiar with all the suits over the years.

Wuddya think a full blown Zilla suit would cost?

It's like everything else: either a buttload of work or a buttload of money.

At that, you can't seem to buy one: I've tried, none of my powerful connections in japan could obtain one for me at any price.

I just want to wear the suit and step on some models. Is that so much to ask?

The heighth of Godzilla at his shlocky low.

.

Tsk, tsk. Does this mean you can't enjoy something just because it isn't good?

Long ago I had to come to terms with the fact that just because I LIKE soemthing, it doen't mean it's good. The sheer badness of godzilla as a whole is part of what makes it so much fun.
I glory in it's sheer, unselfconcious goofiness.

If some people get to love the New Battlestar Galactica, then I get to love godzilla. So there.

Godzilla vs Hedorah/smog monster

You are correct sir! :D

GvH has got some weird stuff in it, no doubt about it. :unsure For example, it's the only film where Godzilla flies.

Propelled by his atomic breath of course. You didn't know he could do that?

That's not undignified at all, is it.

My five year old is has really been getting into Godzilla over the last few months, he just loves it! He's been watching every movie he can get his hands on, and he's managed to get a few of the Godzilla Bandai toys from Toys R Us.

He would love this thread...if he could read.

Things can be so bad they're good no question.
I do rewatch Godzilla films now and then but they are always from the eighties on. except for the very first one.
I think I got enough of the super silly ones as a kid, and the newer ones were kind of hidden from America for a long time.

I HATED the remake they did with Mathew Broderick but loved Godzilla 2000. It's just not a Godzilla movie without the campieness. Yes, I too was 5 years old when I got into The big G. 40 is just around the corner for me now. Wow 35 years!

Hated the Matthew Broderick version as well, and I have seen clips of the Japanese version that completely owns the American Godzilla:lol

We do not speak of the Iguana-zilla.

Also try to find the original Japanese version of Godzilla 2000.
The American version was monkeyed with, incorrect dubbing, cut scenes.

Annoying and no reason I could see for them to do so either.

My son LOVES Godzilla!!!

He has as many DVD's as I can afford to buy, tons of figures, and couple of posters. Heck all of our lizards are named after Godzilla and the other monsters even. :lol

He even has begged me to make him a Godzilla costume, for a 10 year old kid, and it is slowly coming along. I have had to make two different redesigns and realized that I will be hand-making all of the teeth and claws, which I am waiting for the weather to warm up before I begin.

I have extended the deadline on this costume twice for different reasons, it has become the most difficult costume I have ever made. I keep telling people this will be the costume that will kill me. :lol

Now for folks who want to buy a Godzilla costume, they are out there, but they are VERY pricey. Of course you can try to make one yourself as well.

I agree wih what Ham Salad stated earlier in the thread. I would LOVE to take out some frustration dressed in a Godzilla suit and have the pleasure of destroying a toy city:lol Yes....someday it will happen:love

Great video! King of the Monsters! :)

Does anyone know if this is taken from one of the DVD's or something? I've never seen a "Making of..." for Godzilla.

I really need to get some of these movies on DVD. Maybe that box set on Amazon. I wonder if they'll come out on Blu-ray? :cool

That video is on the Special Edition DVD of the first Godzilla movie that wa released a couple of years ago. I've been watching it to get some tips on building my son's Godzilla costume.

Godzilla suit with a foamcore board city.............muhahahahaha!!!!!!!!
ANyone ever see the vidoe clip with the gate they used for his roar? It STILL grinds like him. Years later I saw a documentary the guy told the story then moved the gate open and closed to prove that is how they did it. It's the gate JUST outside the studio. It was a cool bit of trivia for me. Gamra was cool too.

So somebody make one already! I'll pay!!! I swear!

I've seen cool suits for under mascot costumes to keep from overheating.
That would be perfect I bet for a Zilla suit.

I am thinking something between the suit in "One Crazy Summer" and an actual suit would be the ticket.

Like a stunt ALIENS costume.

Easily thousands of dollars to be sure. :cry

Oh yeah, gotta add light up strobing dorsal fins and some kind of breath effect.

I would never take it off. I would just BE Godzilla guy, all the time, 24/7.

Probably get fired, well they could try, I would sue.

Discrimination against costumed radioactive mutant dinosaurs.
