Making a mannequin stand up

I have just received my mannequin that I will hopefully be using for my Darth Vader costume, the problem is that when all the costume pieces are on it falls over backwards, its fine untill you put the cape on, it just leans back slightly but then when you put the cape on it falls over. Obviously I dont wnat this to happen as something may get broken. What can I do to stop this happening?? has anyone experienced similar problems? Thanks.

Mine does that too, I just put it in a corner, no way its ever going to fall over.

I had this same problem with my Fett this week as I assembled him. All was fine 'til the jetpack went on and backwards he went. I just adjusted the ankle rod to tip him forward enough so that when I put the jetpack on there was enough counter balance to keep him upright perfect.

My Vader mannequin was heavily modified by me, but came 'out of the box' with two ways of adding the metal base - either via a bracket from the base to the mid-calf area, or via a metal rod through hole in the foot. I cut a hole in the riding boots and used the rod method, it seems very stable. Does your mannequin have a similar stand you can try?

the stand has a very short metal pole, but its probably only like 6 inches long so doesnt really do much, I could try and extend it but it kind of screws into a the base so I would have to find an alternative method of fixing it onto the base.

Another problem with the mannequin is that the arms are a little short and are to close to the body, what could I do to change the position of the arms and make them longer?

Weight at the front seems like what is needed - is there any way to add weight to the base - fasten it to a heavier wooden base, etc.? Or I suppose you could just use a few yards of heavy chain to make him some necklaces, which would add frontal weight, if it wouldn't show under the costume.
