Major Spoiler for Smallville season 10

It was let out at the Comicon Panel from one of the producers that Tom Welling will in fact be wearing the same superman suit from Superman Returns. They showed a preview of season 10 there that has the suit in the box and Lois opens it up. Yep, it was the Routh suit.
I'm a little disappointed that they aren't doing their own version of the suit and had to borrow Routh's. But I guess it could have been worse.

Also Darkseid will be coming to Smallville. Pa Kent will make a return for an episode or two as well as Laura Vandervoot as supergirl... can't wait for the new season!!

Oh and a little thing, CLARK WILL FLY!

The way I heard it, you see the suit in the box but he doesn't put it on. But I could be completely wrong as I am not a Smallville fan.

I did watch the Justice Society episode, that was cool.

The producers also said he would never fly but that was several years ago. The thinking at the studio now, with the new rise in popularity and acceptance of the more traditional costumed hero look, is that the fans want to see the suit and they want to see him fly.

After 9 seasons and with this 10th being the final season... I have ZERO problems if they reneg on the "no tights, no flights" rule. I've stuck through this show long enough for them to start using the suit.

The names are slipping my mind right now, but I think that was the original creator/producer of the show that said that. He(they?) left after Season 8, so pretty much anything goes now.

I never made it through season 1... but, I may try again as I have seasons 1-3. BUT, as a Superman fan I'm ticked they're opting to use the Routh costume.

Welling still looks more like Superman that Routh ever did to me.

I kind of figured that from last season's ending when Clark was falling off the building kind of like Zod did when he first flew.

I tend to agree that when he flies and wears the suit, that they'll be at the same time. Series finale'. They need to do it early and have some fun with it. "Hey chloe, look what I can do!". My pessimism would also say that the reason it's the routh suit would be that if he's only going to wear it once, why bother creating a new one.

However, a little optimism
They aren't shooting the finale' for some time, so if they've already got shots of Lois with the suit, should be early in the season. Doesn't mean he'll wear it anytime soon, but there's a chance.

The viewers have been waiting 9 bleeping years to see him in the suit and flying, give it to them and give lots of it. Who knows, maybe ratings will skyrocket because of it and they'll fork out the cash for new contracts

Actually you are wrong, they showed preview scenes of him with the regular black outfit flying, saving the giant Daily Planet ball from falling off the building. The crowd went nuts when they saw it, he was flying up the side of the building.

Actually it doesn't bother me at all that he doesn't have the suit or fly. I like it actually.

The whole Smallville panel is available for viewing on YouTube in about 7 parts. I watched it this afternoon. Maybe I misunderstood but it sounded to me like Pa Kent would be back for more than a couple of episodes though... They seemed to suggest that Clark would finally fly (they didn't show the preview footage on youtube) but they beat around the bush about if or when he'd put on the costume. I got the *impression* that they'd probably culminate the season with him becoming Superman but that's just my personal impression...
