Mad Moxxi - Borderlands 2

I started playing Borderlands 2 a few months ago, and liked the sassy Moxxi. I started gathering materials and parts for her just after Halloween, taking advantage of the "after" sales to pick up items like suitable boots, and an appropriate wig, although the costume wasn't high priority to make until January of this year, since I was planning to go to Wizard World Portland.

Since I was on a timeline, I opted for a textured fabric, so I didn't have to take the time to paint the stripes the character has on her coat in the game. The rest was fairly straightforward, and relatively cheap, since almost all the fabric came from my scraps.

The hat is simply a cheap bought one, covered with a textured purple fabric. And oops, the playing card is missing in this picture! The holster is Wonderflex, and the belts are just simple strips of faux leather fabrics.

Since a work issue prevented me from going to WW, I decided to take some time to improve the belts and holster.

Much happier with these, far more accurate to the game model, and I was able to take more time to paint them properly, to get that cel-shaded look. The belts are much sturdier too (strips of yoga mat covered with costume leather), and are less likely to fail halfway through a con!

I'll be taking this costume to ECCC in March, and will get some shots of the whole thing at that time.

I have not played the game, but I have seen the character before.
What you have so far is looking very nice, and as some very nice details.

Sadly, none of the pictures of the costume taken at ECCC turned out worth sharing - poorly focused, blurry, badly lit ... I just couldn't catch a break! Luckily, the weather turned pretty this week, so I snagged a few pictures this weekend!
Such a fun character to cosplay, I'm looking forward to taking this costume to more cons!

I love you costume. I am interested in constructing this costume. What base pattern did you use for the jacket? Thanks!
