MacGuyver's 1st Ever Full Latex Skin Suit

I've kept these pics secret until now only because I needed every spare moment I had available to finish it in time for Halloween this year. Finished it just in the nick of time w/ less than 24 hrs to spare before I had to get all suited up. This suit was one of the single most challenging pieces I've ever created for my costume thus far. It was everything from incredible fun to insanely frustrating, as well as, practically all things in between...but 100% worth it for what I'd accomplished in the end.

Special thanks to The Mortal Immortal, DangerDavey, Ruffkintoys, mangrasshopper & Bovine13 for all the great help tips & advice during the last few months, to Monsterroom for the great latex, and also to Gentry Riley (aka The Paint Moffia) for hooking me up w/ a killer deal on my new Iwata Eclipse HP-CS w/ his new "Triple-Action Handle" invention (Trust me, it's a "MUST HAVE" for ANY Iwata airbrush!). I honestly couldn't have done it w/o all of you guys!

I've also finished putting together a detailed Huntorial on the whole process w/ LOTS of pics from start to finish, located in the Huntorial Thread (OR CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW ALL THE PICS). I look forward to reading all of your comments about my new skin. Please also be aware this is my very first attempt at both a full latex suit, as well as, doing any sort of painting w/ an airbrush. So, I really want to hear all your most brutally honest opinions.

But, for now here's the pics you came here to see...ENJOY!!!

if my first try comes out half as nice as yours did, i'll be one happy dude. very much looking forward to your huntorial!!

Be damn proud of that skin. For a first time you did a great job. The spots look great. The only thing I can say is on the next one blend the veins a bit more so they look under the skin and not so much like they are on top, or exposed. Thats what I noticed on Dales skin which was the first I had done. The veins look more fleshy when blended. The skin and suit are awesome.

Wow...that looks really awesome! I wish I had done the cotton ball texture bumps on my suit. The paintjob is badass too!
Can't wait to see it all put together with the rest!

Thanks Scott! I'd tried a few times to improve how the veins looked on the surface, just got rushed near the end & hand painted them a bit deeper than I would've preferred. I'm going to play around w/ their appearance now that I've got more time to do so & also have to make a few other repairs to damaged spots from wearing the suit. I'm gonna try using further combinations of Createx paints w/ more Transparent base, possibly w/ a very light airbrush flesh tone misted over them.

The one aspect that still bugs the hell outta me is using the deep blue/violet color for Predator veins. I mean, human veins are blue/violet in color & our blood is red in color when we bleed, but since we all know that the Predators bleed a florescent green color blood, then what the hell color would their veins actually appear to be when under the Preds skin surface?

Can anyone here please, riddle me that one!

Thats a question for the ages I think. I have looked through hundreds of pics for a close up of any of the Original Predator skins to try and catch a vein here or there. No luck.

I use a teal/aqua color for the veins I spray. Then mist a little of the base skin color over them to blend them in.

Great job on that suit!!!! Like the experienced painters have said, blend the veins in deeper, and it'll be even greater than it is now. I like the patterning you did on it. Very nice.

Absolutely fantastic looking. Thats one great looking suit you got there bro. pray mine comes out like that once i get a suit. Good job once again

Thanks again to all for the great feedback!

Thank god I'm not the only one who was obsessed w/ trying to find a pic that showed the color of the veins!

I'm gonna try using a deep forest green w/ some transparent base over the current color. That should give an interesting tone & then I'll add a light mist over that w/ my airbrush. I'll let ya know how that turns out.

In the history of stan winston studio there's a pic of the elder P2 head. The veins inside the mouth on the mandible skin are a purplish blue, red color...I think this be the first riddle me ever solved . But alas as with any other riddle, it only leads to another... Why r they normal colored? Perhaps it only turns green and glows when it comes in contact with earths atmosphere? Wouldn't that creep u out... Hurt urself on uranus and u bleed green glowy juice....hehehe, uranus...sorry, couldn't resist . Almost said mars but what would be the fun in that ? Freakin sweet skin by the way! Yeah monkey!

Well, we have blue veins but bleed red. :)

Mac,

just 2 comments if i might...make some smaller viens to blend in more to the larger ones. Also keep in mind the armor and how it's going to sit on the suit.

how much skin will be covered?...or what is the most visible area of the suit.

once you put armor on the skin, even with foam padding inside the armor,.... it will rub the latex and wear the paint down in those sections.

your progress is good to this point.

Thanks for the comments, kit! o_O

I've always put a lot of thought into the "big picture" for how it all will be used & viewed in the end. The veins were one of those things which just didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped at first & have been working on several ways ever since to give them a better, more realistic overall appearance & depth of feel. I'm still working on this to this day & will have the veins looking much better soon.

Unfortunately, due to my lack of prior experience in wearing a full latex suit, I didn't really anticipate or compensate for the areas on the skin that would get damaged from wearing & moving around in the whole costume. I had a good feeling it would happen, but just figured it was just going to be one of those "live & learn" types of things. Which it was...and I did. After Halloween this year, my suit did end up w/ a few damaged areas from being worn although it was actually a lot less than I thought it'd be. The areas which took on the majority of the damage were in the armpits (rubbing the armor) & also on the forearms (from shifting around the gauntlets to fit right). I did get some good advice from TMI about ways to prevent this in the future by reinforcing those areas prone to damage w/ clear plastidip. Again, I still haven't gotten around to doing all the needed repairs to these parts yet, but should have them done soon.

I likely would've been able to better anticipate these things beforehand, but I just ran out of time. Although, it certainly helped teach me a good number of valuable lessons for the future, which is still a great way to learn & improve my creation methods. I never would've gotten this far w/o all of you in the lair in the first place! o_O
