MACE Force FX Saber - How does the 'Purple' look???

Had heard the purple is achieved by alternating blue and red LEDs...

Is this the case, and how obvious is it (or does it pull it off)?

They actually use blue LEDs and a red/pinkish diffuser. I guess it's purple... some are okay with it some are not. I'll put it this way: Of any of the sabers this is the one you are most likely to be disappointed with the blade.

It's going to be dimmer and the "blotchyness" of other sabers is going to be even more apparent.

While it may not be quite as bright as the blue I think it is a vey nice purple, and in my opinion looks better then the green (the older green, the yoda green is really bright)
Mine is not blotchy or blue. :)
Very nice saber, and the color really makes it stand out with the others when they are all on.

As said, it is dimmer. But the diffuser also makes it so the light is more smooth, insted of seeing bright spots where the indivudal lights are.

Also, if you look down the end of it, its blue because there is no diffuser in the tip.

I don't think its bad. I wonder how it compares to a white LED with a purple filter?

blue leds i think, with a red diffuser.

i can check for certain, i still have my blade and strip after i did the luxeon conversion on the wifes mace FX.

They are blue LEDS with a red "sleeve" over them - I have taken one apart...

I think the best way to describe it is a bright LIGHT, but a light COLOR of purple.
