I used about seven pens for the webbing. I don't know how many you'd need for drawing individual honeycombs, you'd have to extrapolate pretty far beyond that.

Hey Luna, just wanted to say that was pretty freakin' awesome going to see the kids in the hospital in costume! Very admirable stuff, man!:thumbsup

Thanks, brother, I really appreciate it! Yea, they were great, I have some more events like that scheduled in the future, it's the best feeling. :)

Awesome guide on the build up of the suit. Congrats on everything!

I just had a question. I'm trying to build my own Spidey suit in particular as well. I'm trying to purchase a Spidey face shell and clicked on the link you provided, but it isn't taking me anymore. I believe the link is gone or something. Anyways, do you know anyone else who sells shells like the one you used or what would you recommend? I'm new here, so sorry for all the questions XD. Thank you!

No worries, thanks for the kind words. You can buy universal faceshells from my friend TJack, he has a thread for them in the junkyard.

Just so you know Luna, your my inspiration for this years Halloween endeavor. Fantastic job, and the fact you keep on giving with the visit to the sick kids is awe inspiring! Here's hoping once my supplies arrive I can work magic like you did, and maybe in the process I can also bring a few smiles along the way! Keep it up!

Thank you so much for your message, that's really nice of you to say! Excelsior!

Hey Luna! Your Spidey build and tutorial is nothing short of amazing! I'm not sure if anyone has asked this but what is the best way to wash the suit? Or how do you go about cleaning it? Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks, man! As I've said before, gently hand-wash in the sink, then hand to air dry (with something holding up the shoes so they don't pull down on the rest of the suit as it dries.

I'm having a real hard time with the shoes... finding the right size. I'm normally a size 10, went with a size 8 and it still seemed too big. What size are you versus what did you go with?

I honestly don't know--since I tried mine on in a store, I just bought whatever size fit me in person. Sorry. I'm normally around a size 9? I think I'm wearing size 8 churchills.

Gotcha.. how does It feel walking without the heel, by the way?

Hi Luna, exciting news, I received my Faceshell kit from Tjack , and the Orhader print has also arrived from FOD. I had a question about the zippers in your suit, primarily did you use a U zipper for the back? Or was it several invisible zippers? Been searching around for the final pieces before construction and they are being the most painful in terms of finding. Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey Luna,

I am still a bit confused, how was the process of you gluing/magnetizing your face shell to be able to put your lenses on? I just ordered from Tjack as well, I did not get the combo kit, just the face shell and lenses thats why.

Thanks!

Hey! This suit uses a U-zip pattern, but that involves a pair of invisible zippers, I'm not sure you're making a distinction that exists. The track of the "U" runs from one armpit, down the side, turns at a right angle and goes across the bottom of the belt along the bach, turns again, and runs up the other side to the other armpit. But you can either do one long zipper running that distance, like Brad Spidey4Fun or the film suits, or you can have a pair of zippers run that distance, one starting at each armpit, and then meeting at the center of the back. That's easier to do because you can buy invisible zippers of that length more easily.

Hey, I'm not sure what you mean here---I didn't magnetize the faceshell or wear the faceshell for this suit. The faceshell was only used to curve the lenses to shape. I did not glue or attach or wear or magnetize the faceshell in any way here.

You need a way to accurately curve the lenses. Since I already had the faceshell, that was the easiest method for me. You could also make a cast of your own face or get an accurately sized mannequin head or modify a store-bought mask to provide a place to curve your lenses. I simply had the faceshell on hand, so I used that.

After the lenses are curved, and you've made your measurements that let you line up the lenses symmetrically, you need to have something to stretch the mask over so that the fabric is positioned the way it will be on your head. I used the face mask to cobble together a goofy surrogate head because that's what I had with me. Once the fake head was wearing the mask, I lined up my measurements and glued the eyes to the fabric mask.

Having said that, most people can benefit from wearing a faceshell with the suit, because the mask will tend to squash down your features and blur them out. I just have really pointy bone structure in my face and a prominent nose, so the mask looks fairly comic-book like without the shell.

I must say kudos to you Luna. The micron pen looks fantastic I can't even tell where the sew lines would have been on the webbing. You truly inspire me good sir

Thank you for the inspiration to create a Spider-man suit! Your guide has been extremely helpful and I hope that my addition to the legion of Spider-men will be 1/8th as awesome as yours.

I do have a question: when you first got the print back from FOD, did you wash it? Or was it sent out to TrophyWife?
