Hi Luna, exciting news, I received my Faceshell kit from Tjack , and the Orhader print has also arrived from FOD. I had a question about the zippers in your suit, primarily did you use a U zipper for the back? Or was it several invisible zippers? Been searching around for the final pieces before construction and they are being the most painful in terms of finding. Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Hey! This suit uses a U-zip pattern, but that involves a pair of invisible zippers, I'm not sure you're making a distinction that exists. The track of the "U" runs from one armpit, down the side, turns at a right angle and goes across the bottom of the belt along the bach, turns again, and runs up the other side to the other armpit. But you can either do one long zipper running that distance, like Brad Spidey4Fun or the film suits, or you can have a pair of zippers run that distance, one starting at each armpit, and then meeting at the center of the back. That's easier to do because you can buy invisible zippers of that length more easily.
Hey Luna,
I am still a bit confused, how was the process of you gluing/magnetizing your face shell to be able to put your lenses on? I just ordered from Tjack as well, I did not get the combo kit, just the face shell and lenses thats why.
Thanks!

Hey, I'm not sure what you mean here---I didn't magnetize the faceshell or wear the faceshell for this suit. The faceshell was only used to curve the lenses to shape. I did not glue or attach or wear or magnetize the faceshell in any way here.
You need a way to accurately curve the lenses. Since I already had the faceshell, that was the easiest method for me. You could also make a cast of your own face or get an accurately sized mannequin head or modify a store-bought mask to provide a place to curve your lenses. I simply had the faceshell on hand, so I used that.
After the lenses are curved, and you've made your measurements that let you line up the lenses symmetrically, you need to have something to stretch the mask over so that the fabric is positioned the way it will be on your head. I used the face mask to cobble together a goofy surrogate head because that's what I had with me. Once the fake head was wearing the mask, I lined up my measurements and glued the eyes to the fabric mask.
Having said that, most people can benefit from wearing a faceshell with the suit, because the mask will tend to squash down your features and blur them out. I just have really pointy bone structure in my face and a prominent nose, so the mask looks fairly comic-book like without the shell.
