Done / Completed Luke TFA Lightsaber Control Box Triangles and Lid

Im going to talk to the local waterjet guy tomorrow (Friday) and see if he can do the job for the same price as the online place, if he can't maybe he can match it if I supply the aluminum (i had a sheet come in yesterday I was going to use to make my rails, but its big enough to cut about 40 sets.

Here is a start to the button, needs chamfered edges but other than that there's not much to it. More to come!

These rails will fit any Luke saber controll box?

Here is a quick mockup with laser cut acrylic (my laser seems off a little, the cuts should all be 90 degrees but its cutting on an angle. I didn't have any copper tape so I couldn't make the card with the lines. This is only for measurements. I think the card is as deep as the slot in the control box and the rails barely hang over. Since the control box isnt hollow, the rails arent functional. Some VHD tape can hold the card and epoxy/ glue for the rails.

I got the measurements over to Slothfurnace on Saturday, he had a couple suggestions and questions. Should have an idea on pricing soon and a time frame for the cards to be made. Things are looking good and as usual Brad has been extremely helpful and accommodating. The cards will be custom sized for this control box.

does this fit all control boxes of Luke saber?

Technically other than his prototype these rails don't exist yet. Not sure about the ones he's making but your box would also have to be 40mm in length.
I think is kind of safe to assume these are designed specifically for this box.

No they will only fit the ones from the EP 7 BTS Luke saber. They are [] shaped, where the ones for the ROTJ Luke Hero were routed, these are straight lines on all four sides. I hope this hopes.

Can you tell me the length width and height of the control box with and without the extension and greeblies?

If it was my control box I would, but since it's Dan's run and his design I would have to refer you to him. The rails are 3/16 or .186 high

Quick update, talked to Brad, 20 days or so for the cards. Looking at 2nd week of August. He's really doing us a solid getting them done so quick. That gives me two weeks for the rails and to try to figure out a button.

I will be sending PM's to everyone in the next day, but I think we can make this a complete set for around $45 (or less) plus shipping ($3 in United States). That includes 2 rails, the card, the Pastor Jedi Triangles and a Button. The button and rails will not be anodized, you will have to paint them. You will also receive 2 extra sets of triangles. Initially I said the cards would be around $30 and triangles $10, so I think we are doing really well for getting the rest of the parts made within the ballpark of the initial estimate. Also, since the parts (especially the rails) need to be squared (no taper on sides) we will need to go with the more expensive (about 20%) waterjet option.

Now for the bad news, if 90% of those who have signed up for the cards and the triangles aren't interested in the button and rails I wont be getting them made. The only other option would be to get less people interested at a higher cost. Ill crunch the numbers and send PM's to everyone.

Hopefully it won't be an issue since, as you mentioned, the final cost of more items ended up being only $5 more than your initial estimate for only the cards and triangles.

I am absolutely down for as many parts as you can provide. The price seems QUITE reasonable.

I'm in for a full set - arrows and lid, thanks!

Ack! forget that. Just saw it's for the TFA and not ROTJ.
