I found myself a saberbuilder who wanted to machine this for me.

Instead of the painted copper neck like the original, I wanted a real copper neck. Yesterday he mailed me these photo's :cool.

I think it looks great. Can't wait to see more.
Right now I'm trying to find a Graflex clamp. From what I've read on this forum it's better not to use the ones from Saberkit (Parks). I'll keep you guys posted.

Just ordered the clamp at 'King of Parts'.
Well ordering at Parks (Saberkit) is very expensive. The clamp itself is $35 but shippingcosts are $45. So I think $80 is to much for a clamp.

$45? Are you overseas? It's not that much in the states, for sure, so if you're here, I think there's some confusion!

I once questioned Parks shipping costs for a small single item, there reply went somthing like "We have a flat rate shipping, if you order more parts it will be more cost effective". Thanks a bunch !

Andy.

I used the Google checkout to calculate my shipping costs and it came up with $45 (garanteed), $20 (not garanteed) to the Netherlands. Right now I'm only paying $35,- shipping included.

King of Parts is a good guy, I've had quite a few things from him. He never puts clamps on ebay but always has some if you ask. He does a few versions with variations on the lever and side bars (solid alu, folded steel etc.) so it's worth asking what he's got in.

Hi Almar,

I've got my black aluminum grips from King of Parts. Excellent trade!
By the way is your saberbuilder from The Netherlands too?
Looking forward to your updates.

Chaim

PS Here's a photo from The Star Wars Archives of the other side of Luke's ROTJ V3. Notice the small black hole in the copper neck?

Here are some more pics. The emitter is finished and painted as well.

@Sim-cha, no he's not from holland. He's from Venezuela if I'm not mistaking.

Hm ...

I once got a Luke V2 on ebay accordingly from Venuzuela. I wonder if it's the same guy? The seller, whom I bought it from, however was from Florida but it was built in Venezuela :wacko
Any way keep the results coming ... very excited indeed. :love

Just got the Graflex clamp today. Many thanks to Bill from King of Parts.

I still need to drill some holes in it to make it as screen accurate as possible. We'll see.

Wondering if I should weather this or not :confused.

Even though it's usually seen beaten down and weathered, I always felt that pristine and shiny was the way to go with this saber. All the details really stand out and look sweet.

Looking awesome by the way, can't wait to see pics of the finished version.
