Luke Macro Side Box Photo

Hey all,

Been a LOOOONG time since I visited, or thought much about props, but I did discover this photo recently which I thought I'd share with the community. It's a nice big, clear pic-- looks like an analog relay, maybe. It also appears that the image is a scan from a publication, so maybe this isn't news at all...

I know that some people have asked in PMs for the template for the "transition box"... that was a couple of computers ago, and I'm not sure I have the plans or even photos any more. Sorry. :unsure

That pic of the transition box with the measurements you posted shows my personal buildup. It was based on a real kalimar housing, clad with styrene.

Now we can finally figure out what the black box is. I still think it's a flash. One off the best pics I've ever seen of it.

Well...
the black box seems to have at least two round ports with "recharging pins" similar to the ones on a Graflex. So the flash-accessory theory doesn´t sound too far off.

I was hoping that photo would turn up someday.

I saw a thumbnail image of it in the Lucasfilm image library awhile back. I had no idea it had been used in print somewhere already.

Pretty neat! It probably is some sort of flash adapter. Or something along these lines http://www.discountphotoandcamera.com/wp-content/uploads/-128172305071465390.jpg Where the actual bulb/flash is attatched to that little box.

Man I would love to sift through the pics in the archive. You KNOW there are pics of the spacetrooper pack etc. out there!

Still searching, but since we have no idea what to look for it's kinda like a needle in a haystack.
It's possible it is just a little part off something much bigger.
