*Luke ANH Macrobinoculars body found. ARCHIVE PLEASE!*

Chris - you're absolutely right.
I stand corrected.
I can just about match the B & W pic of Luke holding the Macro from the left hand side with my Eumig!
In the pic, you can *just* make out the details of the top of the Eumig as Luke holds it upside down.
I agree the correct way to hold the Macro would be with the Eumig label up.

I'll get pictures up tomorrow!

Howard.

Here's a picture from the Eumig's owner's manual:

EUMIGs_p01.jpg

..and here's a picture provided to me that seems to show that the small knobs on the side of the macros probably were gotten from the same camera as the viewfinder:

Kurt - The prop in your pic is the stunt, but those do look like the buttons.

The Hero seems to have one of those buttons too.

Yeah..the knobs look all the same. I simply used the stunt photo because it was already set up with the picture below it when it was sent to me.

I also believe that the larger side knobs where on the side camera, used to wind/advance the film (but not 100% on that yet).

If so...that would seem to leave the front lense mounting plate to identify...in addition to whatever "black box" was between the Eumig and viewfinder.

don`t cry "HURRA" to early, the knobs on the camera are not high enough IMO. Better images could clear that.

I don`t think that they used much other parts of the camera. My guess is that they just grab the lens and the finder (you can remove it without any screws) and put it onto the prop.

I`ll take a close look on the camera again today.

There`s one camera located in the UK :

Hi Stephan,

We have in stock a camera, with a standard lens. The camera is a grey/green colour. The shutter has been
overhauled and the camera is not mint but it is good condition for
its age. There is some wearing off of the paint along the back and
side edges but otherwise it is very good.
It is priced at £495 (UK pounds). Do let us know if you are
interested.

A lil rich for my blood.

The picture above that shows Luke holding macros, “is” the hero up side down.

As for the gray camera that is for 495. Pounds....OUCH!!!! But once word gets out unfortunately, I anticipate that will become the norm....the camera is becoming more popular with camera collectors IÂ’ve noticed recently! That is why I wished MR would move on this, so people donÂ’t have to pay these high prices, and a lot of cameras could be preserved!
icon_smile.gif

I did want to make a comment to those that are killing them selves over the Eumigs....Relax! There not that rare,.......“be patient”......I’ve been collecting these little guys long enough to know that there is enough in the world for every Star Wars fan that once one, can get one eventually at a reasonable price.......if your willing to be patient!
As for that camera that the lenses and the view finder come from....bad news....these will be a dog fight for these guys, and I do foresee the prices going to $1,000./495 pounds! Sorry!

Lonepigeon...about the “stunt” and “hero” identification by view finder....I’ve should have specified.... “when it’s hanging from Luke’s belt”....sorry!
icon_smile.gif
AND also, when I say “left side” and “right side” on the macros, I mean “from the operators point of view”.

“If” I have time this weekend, I would be willing to take high res pictures of the Eumig Servomatic if you guys and gals want them?

I'd like to see pictures of a "blue" lens with the 2 side knobs like the black one "pulseriflefan" posted pictures of!
icon_smile.gif

All of the "blue" lenses I've seen so far do not have the knobs on them.

the "blue" lens is actually gray but on most images it lookes more blue than gray.

I saw both lenses (gray and black) with the focus knobs and only one gray without.

IMO they were removed by the user of the camera cus sometimes they are a lil disturbing if you turn the focus ring by hand.

It`s just my guess, I personally don`t like these knobs on cameras in that size too. They`re common on older 35mm cameras.

The knobs are fixed by only one screw, easy to remove and after removing there`s only a small hole left which you can`t see on most images.

I think if you look closely, you can see a knob on the right side of the lense in the picture (maybe no)?

Also, this camera has the larger winding knob which I theorize may have been one of the larger knobs on the macro.

(ps. The image above was also provided by a third party...I didn't find it myself - I don't want to take a credit for anything I didn't find

Okay folks,
got framed on the camera I bought. Since everyone and his cousin is out there hunting for them, I will open a separate thread about this

nope, sorry but no knobs on that camera. The owner is a very nice guy and send me a bunch of hires images.
Oh, and it`s not the model with the interchangeable finder !

The knob size is not different, just the shape and interiors were.

Hey Howard ! What happend to the name plaque of the camera

Nothing.
This is one of the ultra rare versions. A mistake at the factory....

Mmm...jpg

The round piece 2nd from the right on the camera looks like it was also used on the R5 units. I think it was previously thought to be a door spy hole:
redleaderR5.jpg

This camera has the wrong viewfinder, but appears to have some other parts for the Macrobinocs:
cam02.jpg

Check out the black piece where the lenses are attached - could this be the "plate" we're looking for? It also appears to have the same knobs:
cam01.jpg

What do you think?
-Chris

Very close - except the viewfinder hood does not have a taper toward the top, as per the prop.

I'm away for a week now - *if* I get to a netcafe I'll check in - but I'm so looking forward to any new developments when I return!

Cheers all!

Howard.

Very good idea !

Unfortunatly most TLR`s are using this sort of lens plate and without better reference material all looks correct.
