LOTR UC knock-offs - Final summary

Re: LOTR United Cutlery knock-offs?

Hmmm... The sword I received that I am happy with measures out 47".

It is nearly 53" with the scabbard, as per the listing.

Seems some eBay listings show the sword itself as a full 53".

How long was the UC version, without the scabbard?

Well you get what you pay for... The knock-offs vary wildly in quality, and I will end up spending more on multiples than I would have just going UC. :unsure

The sword from Venti was VERY nice. NIcest so far.

I also have two swords from ebay-seller Topicool scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Their communication has been SUPERB, and since I paid with a credit card, (and if the ETA holds true) I will have received the swords within 48 hours. I will report on the quality tomorrow.

Re: LOTR United Cutlery knock-offs?

I had BAD luck with eBay sellers ran77nh and 2310

While service from both was acceptable, the swords are complete crap.

If I save you some heartache and a few bucks by avoiding them, then maybe you can send a couple bucks my way to make up for the $100 - $200 trial and error process I've gone through! :D

Not sure how appropriate this thread is anymore with the return of UC, so this may be my final report.

I now have bought FOUR Anduril knock-offs, and TWO Strider ranger swords just to attain the quality I desired. I would have been better off going with UC to begin with.

At any rate, there is a DISTINCT quality difference in these knock-offs. The best swords were the ones that have "440 Stainless Made In China" engraved into the base of the blade. In my estimation the are most likely as good as the UC.

The rest that I bought are worse than if you yourself took a silicon mold and re-cast a sword with white-metal or pewter. They're awful, and would not meet the standards of any self-respecting RPF member.

Here is my eBay seller summary in order of best to worst:

Topicool (business): About $70 - $80. Outstanding. If you pay with a credit card or Paypal, expect a long box on your door tomorrow or the next day. Blistering fast shipping, automated on-line purchase, smooth as silk. The swords are of the significantly higher quality. Mine had a few small nicks; of the caliber that I am asking myself if it is worth the hassle of returning.

Venti (private seller, I believe): About $70 - $80. Same high-quality sword as above; had a communication glitch that he and I agreed was an unusual and one-off situation; otherwise steller service

2310 (business): $35 - $55. Acceptable service but swords of the worst possible swords; lumpy cast hilts, bent, wobbly, and wavy blades

ran77nh: Questionable service, slow shipping, pretty poor quality sword

Is that a UC or Knockoff???

On a side note, they are re-releasing Boromir's sword this month and Introducing the Witchking Dagger!

They are re-releasing the Eowyn sword, Gandalf the White staff, and Anduril and Glamdring scabbards as well...

Don't forget about Isildur's Sword :D

I wish they would have re-released the Elven Knife Of Strider before the Staff of GTW. But, I'm sure they will get to it later.

Hmmm... Got a copy of the Glamdring sword from this seller today. Quality of the sword is so-so.
I haven't seen a Glamdring knock-off that looks even vaguely like the real deal... Is it that hard to replicate that wonderful, curvy, smooth leaf-blade?:love
Apparently... YES!:angry:rolleyes

There are knock-offs of all the LOTR swords so far, and they are GREAT!
Why there isn't a good knock-off of my favourite sword ever?!?:cry

Ok, the rant is over!:)
