Just in time for Dragon*Con (okay, so I still have a few weeks left) I'm winding down on costumes for myself and my boyfriend. We actually started before we knew Marta Kristen and Mark Goddard were going to be there.
It was tough getting colors just right and, as with most TV/movie costumes, (especially the older stuff) we just picked whatever color we believed was the closest and went with it. I found this picture on a LiS website:
I don't think the turtleneck is the same one she wore...the color just seems too vibrant for something so old. But I went with it and this is what I came up with:
I used Kwik Sew pattern 3576 and just modified it to match...mostly. The seams aren't exact, but overall it has the look I was going for. The boots don't exactly match either and they had some goofy Flower Power appliques I had to remove, but until I find a pair of white boots I can paint/dye a matching color, they'll do. I was able to find a pair of tights that kind of bridge the colors of the dress and the boots, so they're not so glaringly different.
Today I finished the collar on my boyfriend's tunic. That thing was NOT fun but I survived and he's happy with it. I'll probably put his pants together closer to Dragon*Con. He's still searching for the right boots...he's found something close on eBay (motorcycle calf-high boots) but he's holding off for now. He's hoping to get a blaster/laser pistol sometime soon.
That's all for now on these costumes. Now to get to work on some Airwolf flightsuits!
