looking for specific cowboy gun as a toy

Hi there,
I recently was in Tombstone Arizona and bought myself some sweet cowboy stuff, even a genuine leather holster so now I need a gun to put in it. I live in Canada so I'm going to just put a toy gun in there and I've always been a fan of the long-nosed pistols seen in spaghetti westerns like these that Clint is sporting.

Anyone know the name or style of these kinds of pistols? And secondly, anyone know of a toy version that fits this style? Most toy cowboy guns are standard Roy Rogers-ish ones that I'm not interested in.

I believe that's a colt walker dragoon.
don't know anyone who makes a toy version.
a company called Hubley made nice toy / cap guns kinda in that style but it was many decades ago and they get pretty pricey now.
maybe you should consider a solid resin cast of a pistol of that sort?
good hunting :)

The guns from Outlaw Josey Wales are .44 caliber 1847 Colt Walkers. You can get reproductions from Collectors Armory.
One slight problem you might have. The Walker is one of the biggest black powder revolvers ever built at 15&1/2" overall, 9" barrel and 4 1/2 lbs. It probably aint gonna fit. If the holster is size for a Colt peacemaker, you could fit a Colt 1851(Man with no name), 1861, 1860, or the other black powder gun he made famous the Remington 1858 from Pale Rider.
One bit of trivia, the Josey Wales .44 Walkers were converted to fire .38 special.
One of my favorite movies.

I have gotten a few guns from these guys and they are in North Vancouver, BC

should be able to get something close to what you want

Replica Guns For Sale In Canada & US. Denix Replica Firearms, Guns, Rifles, Pistols & Revolvers

Perfect! I live in Vancouver so this will be easy enough to go visit. I'll take the holster with me and see what fits from the items they sell. I see they do have dragoons so that's awesome and hey, if it doesn't fit, I'll get whatever does.

Thanks folks!

when i got mine stuff i asked if I could pick it up save on shipping things might have changed

Wolfwalker is correct, the Dragoon is hilariously huge. A friend ownes at least two of the screen used Dragoons from Josey Wales among other items. Youll be very hard pressed to find an accurate replica due to the work done to the pistols for film use. They were also used in other films but ive slept since hearing all those stories. Basically what was done is a 1851 Colt was upscaled for the higher caliber. Upon first seeing the two pistols together with no prior knowledge, its as if someone is playing a joke. You can buy black powder replicas, even in pieces. Its just a question of customs and gun laws.

And for a loose size reference for the 1851, this was the casting I did for my MWNN GBU costume a couple years ago. All cast in color, parts are test fit in the picture.

Not sure on the Walker's, but I do know the 1858 Remington was used by John Wayne in the movie Red River.
The guns used by Clint in Josey Wales were the actual 1847 Walker Colts. The Dragoon models are actually the Improved models of the Walker.(smaller barrels, addition of a catch to hold the loading lever).

The 1851 Navy is a separate model that was an improvement over the Dragoon that was smaller, lighter, & of a lighter caliber. It was one of the most popular of Col. Colt's models.

As far as being hilariously huge, uh yeah. When Walker (Texas Ranger but not Chuck) wanted Colt to design the Walker, he wanted it to take a max charge of 60 grains black powder, which caused the cylinders to explode. There were only 1000 made for the Rangers and 100 civilian models. Actually got to see one of the original 1000 once and these are big.

Sorry about the history lesson. Used to be into Cowboy Action Shooting, had an idea for my own version of an improved Supernatural Colt, plus not sleeping, heading to the doctor this morning, kinda nervous.

Not an expert by any means. Just have a love of history and old guns(black powder is loud, messy but oh so much fun.).
Matter of fact, my brother is getting ready to build his first muzzleloader(after he gets the rest of the parts). Thing is, he's had 3 strokes, has problems with his balance and arms, but his mind is clear. He's the one got a lot of my knowledge from.

Yeah the walker could hold 60 grains of powder but after about 50 grains it became a frag grenade. Another note is that you wont find many holsters for a walker as they were meant to be carried in pairs on a saddle. The Josey Wales holsters were totally custom.

They blew cos troops ( Dragoons) loaded Pickett bullets the wrong way round in to the chambers as they went in EASIER .. Clints leather was all done by Andy Anderson , even his Manco rig .. one of the cartridge con Walkers was used in Long Riders , lonesome dove ,three amigos, same gun recycled .. 38 blank firing ..
