Looking For High Quality NECA Hellraiser Box Scans

My neca box definitely fell apart too. I didn't even notice it until I picked it up one day. i did purchase a box from the Propstore of London which was still in great condition when I last looked. I'll check it out tonight, and I could possibly scan mine in as well if it's needed.

Ahhh unfortunately it's not screen used, but was a replica they had on their site. It's of a very good quality though. I would love to have had a screen used one. Sorry.

Most fan replicas out there are using the old "Xane panel" design which is very close but still a bit off in places. The Neca box was sourced from an original box and hence the desire to make new patterns from that replica specifically.

I'd guess that the Propstore replica was sourced from the Xane panels as well but I could be wrong.

The devil is in the details. :)

thank you gentlemen for your scans. i will write something up on them soon. Stencil - please scan all 6 sides of your box in high quality 600dpi if possible. try to get them to look like my scan at the start of this thread. all i did was place my box on the scanner and cover tight it with a black shirt and then straightened and cropped the image. i would appreciate it as would others...

Have you had a chance to check out my panels yet? Just wondering if they survived the trip and were useable for you.

If you want, my box is quite in good condition, I could scan it for you. Not sure it's a Neca thought - I bought it 15 years ago. If you are still interested, just send me a PM to remind me. :)

Okay, so, from what I've read in the other thread ( thanks to the poster for the scans ! ), mine is a Screamin' box. It's worth what it is, and the panels are by pair - no point in scanning all faces.

Here's the scan, hope it can be of any help. :)

They appeared to be just lacqured on. I think the problem was the wood itself. It was not very dense and expanded and contracted a lot. I don't think they used a high quality wood on these. On the panels I got some of the wood was still attached to the back of some of the panels.

They probably didn't use a hard wood or sanding seal them. from the scans I saw it looked like they stained the boxes with the panels on them?

I manually traced (in Adobe Illustrator) the panels from scans of a NECA Hellraiser box, for a project awhile back. You're welcome to them if they can help you in any way.

I found copies of the Xane panels, but wasn't happy with them.
Using scans from a NECA box, I hand traced them into vector format in Illustrator. -I also cleaned up the horrible geometry in the process.

NOTE: I did two versions of Priapus 2 face. One has the jagged trim holes as they are in the original and another, exactly the same, except the trim holes have been cleaned up and made more uniform. I can save them as AI, WMF, EMF, PDF or DXF format files.

Let me know if you want them and I'll email them over -or I may have to setup a download account on Rapid share or something.

Anyway, happy to help if I can.

I have a set of panels that were done here years ago. I can scan them if you still want them. They are not the NECA version.

Those tracings look good, copper9!

I prefer the jagged uneven holes around the perimeter. Looks more "ancient".

I'd love the vector files! Please upload them somewhere! I think the RPF attachments might support uploading Illustrator and eps files.

Edit- yup!

ok.
I'm at work now, but I'll check out how to do the attachment thing tonight and upload the files. -I'll just save them as .EMF metafiles and that should make them portable to any vector software, Illustrator, Corel, etc.

That is super cool. Thanks!

Hey thanks, Dark Pope.
I saw your etching tutorial on youtube a few weeks back. -Nicely done!

It didn't come in time to help me with my last project, but I'll definitely try it in my next.

I work mostly with ferric chloride + citric acid and can't wait to try your muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide mix. The cost of ferric has gotten stupid lately and if your mix works as good as it looks, it'll save me a ton on the expense costs.
