I would not be surprised if it's based on multiple reference. A shot for the torso, a shot for the head, etc., and maybe nothing that exactly matches the pose and hand gestures.

hmm possibly the artist created his own reference and used facial ref etc.. however that does look like Mr Hamill's body and form....

It's a photo and it looks exactly - wrinkle-for-wrinkle - like that painting. It's on page 64 of Chronicles, but I wouldn't exactly call it "hi-res". Maybe a larger version is in one of the other books?

Maybe its in the Action Figure Archive book. There is some really good reference in there.
