"Look Sir, Droids".... Part ID?

Here is the piece in my base!! Only the true Star Wars fans will understand it's significance. ;)
A ring, and a pair of golden 'slippers'...

Hmmm...where have I seen this before... :lol

I think its a lens cap too, but yeah don;t seem worth it to go buy one just for this purpose.

I used a sprinkler head. Man, this was years ago!

I was watching ANH the other day and also notices some wires running from the back of Threepios head behind him..in the scene where they are being sold by Jawas. Then in the next scene the wires are gone..

That's because it was the very first shot with the new 3PO suit and they forgot to put the wires inside.

No kidding.

Haha...man. You would think at least they could have changed the angle slightly. Surprised Lucas didn't 'remove' them for the special editions. He could have remade the sandcrawler with big cannons and funny aliens all over it too.

Looks kinda like a part from the Airfix Saturn V kit.

Sorry for the crappy image quality. Snapped pics on my phone.

Can't see the pics!
Obviously, this part was the restraining bolt port surround. It would only come from a droid and we never see it on R2 again! Fell off because he didn't have a 'bolt attached and they don't use the same type on Tatooine...
(Hence Jabba and Jawas not needing it to fit one.)

I love that you are building Threepio from the ground up - literally!
Can't wait to see when you make some ankles :p

Well, they didn't forget, they just chose not to. It's the microphone wire for AD. They were still working out a system for miking him, and for a while would just tape the wire to the side not facing the camera.
