Long Fall Boot Pepakura - not unfolding?

So I've recently been attempting to make the Long Fall Boots from Portal 2, and thought I'd first make a quick scale model of paper just to see what dimensions and such work best. Well, after some searching, I found a .pdo file for the boots, and opened it in Pepakura Viewer, only to find that no "unfolding" was done - the 2D menu was a single, blank piece of paper. This does not happen for any other file, and I get an error message saying "No data for development", which I'm vaguely presuming is relevant to the issue.
The file itself can be found here: http://www.405th.com/f28/portal-2-3d-models-pepakura-files-32284/
Is there any way to fix this, or perhaps unfold the model manually? I'd like to avoid paying $38 for Pepakura Designer if I can help it, though...

Neither the .pdo nor the .obj files were ever unfolded, the 3d model was just uploaded to Pepakura and saved in the two formats. So, the model still has to be unfolded to be built. ASFAIK, you can still download the freeware Pepakura Designer, but I don't think that version lets you save any progress. In the end, what you really need is someone to unfold this and save it in a full version of Pepakura Designer.

I know this is an old post, thought it might be useful.

They don't unfold really well, but I have done it - I stripped out the 'edges' in Blender, then cut the basic parts into separate pieces. It's a bit messy, but I can post the pdo for you, if you want. (that's legal right?)

I haven't made the boots yet, but at least it's a start. (I'm actually doing a steampunk version of the boots ...)
