Loki Helmet and Armor build from 'Thor'

Hi everyone, I've been sort of lurking on this board and the 405th on and off for the last few months as I worked on my own project. This is my first pep ever, although I had to restart twice before reaching the final product, but I learned a lot along the way.

The pep was hardened withe epoxy and fibreglass cloth, then sculpting and details were added with bondo. The helmet is mostly finished now - I'm currently trying to decide if I want to wet sand, buff and polish the clear coat on it.

It comes apart into two pieces in order to be worn, like so:

I have 'in progress' photos if anyone is interested.

As for the rest of the armor, I'm currently sketching up some designs and I'm going to try to model them out in blender. I have an xbox kinect I'm using as a 3d scanner and I'm going to try to create a 3d bust of myself to get the proportions for the pauldrons and breastplate right, and I'm also thinking of making a custom dress form to help with sewing the rest of the costume.

Thanks! This was actually my third attempt at building this particular pep. On my first try I used a brush to apply epoxy as a hardener and I ended up with drips. Also because the sides and front of the mask aren't a closed circle, its harder to brace properly, and some parts mask warped badly during the process.

So I took the opportunity to do some more editing to the model to make it closer to the movie prop and tried again. On the second try I noticed that some of the scaling wasn't quite right for the two sides of the mask and it ended up being too short, so I had to go back and make more changes.

When I look back at my disastrous first attempt I can't help but think of this:

For my third attempt I bought some K'nex and made a frame to hold everything in place. Here's a comparison of the first and third attempts after the hardening process was complete on each.

That is really clean. It looks amazing.

And a fantastic idea about doing the 3D bust to get the proportions right. Can't wait to see the armor.
