Logan's Run WORKING Flame Pistol 3D printed (a UNIQUE, one of a kind internal design).

I wanted to test my version of the 3D Printed LR DS Sandman Flame Gun, so I edited together a group of shots:

Test from last night:

This looks really cool. I do have one comment, though: do you think that maybe your version of the gun is putting out too much light when you fire it? Is there a way to dial back on the amount of gas it releases when you pull the trigger? In stills of the movie gun shooting, it looks like the flame shoots out no more than a couple of inches, and it doesn't put out so much light that the gun itself acts as a light source.

Still and all, this is an awesome project and I have been enjoying watching as you progress it. Thank you!

Thanks epoxinator for your interest.

The thing about the flame output of my version is that there are 4 individual flames that need to be ignited
at the same time using the means I came up with.
When I first tested the flame output they were dangerously HUGE! and I had to tone them down considerably because
I saw they were a much larger EFFECT then a prop pistol should be.
As you know the original flame effect is one large flame torch ignited by a glow plug and restricted at the tip with
a washer. That would allow flame to reflect off the washer and and out the four slots.
It would send out a fairly large load of gas on each shot.
A portion of the flame would also escape out the washer hole, give a 5 flame output.
It would send out a fairly loud, large load of gas on each shot.
.
Mine of course is 3D printed Plastic and the means I created is designed WAY different then the original.
Getting it to work at all was a real challenge to say the least. I did however manage to reduce some of the gas
output on mine and still was able to ignite it equally in 4 nozzles.
In the fifth hole on the tip, I will most likely add a hyper super bright Blue LED.
.
While looking at the flame live, looks pretty nice and evenly spread out ( I do however feel, my old little Canon digital 12mp camera adds 10 pounds :) )

Updated:
This has definitely been a WIP.
I started out wanting to design and create the only working 3D printed, PLA plastic, Logan's Run Sandman pistol from
scratch and I feel I have done just that (see previous videos).
Much more light weight and still functional.
.
Since PLA plastic at the tip (where the flame is normally produced) would have melted over time, my original 3D printed design
redirected the gas straight to the tip where it was then lit by four separate spark igniters. Works great.
That being done successfully, I thought I would again redesign the nozzle, flame suppressor area to have one large, single
"torch like" flame (as the original version was) and make the suppressor out of metal to accept the flame without deforming
it's shape (due to the heat produced).
The video below shows the progress in my redesign of the "flame out" area.
It will be:
One short length, 3/8" brass nozzle tube with a single ARC igniter (no glow plug or toggle switch) to start the flame
and a machined aluminum flame suppressor to redirect and dissipate the heat.
.
.
Thanks for watching. :)
