Lighters to collect that were used in movies

Hospital called about a referral about my legs/feet neuropathy... Yeah that was done last August. This is the same heath system that just sent me a bill for the third home on a Blue Cross paid bill. They really have it together... Sadly, I'm the one that has to deal with this stuff.

I just got a promotion at work (more money), but I have to go to night shift for now. That'll be extra fun!

I just picked up a Joseph Adama lighter (REGENS) from Battlestar Galactica. Now I just need to find a place to engrave the name on it. View attachment 1907679

I posted the results of my Joseph Adama lighter in another thread and thought I would post it here too, since this is where I first brought it up. The engraver accidentally put the printing on the wrong side at first, so now it’s on both sides of the lighter. It actually came out better on the wrong side, but I’m happy with how it came out.

Not sure it counts but I recently stumbled across this vintage Austrian made IMCO triplex super used by Indy in the new video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

That's the same lighter Marion uses in Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was supposed to be the original Triplex (different model, but looks the same in her hand)but technically only the pre-patent version was of limited availability in 1936 and only in Austria. Maybe she had a friend send it to her....

IMCO Triplex Pre-patent 1936 (later renamed the 4700). The Triplex Super (6800) was from the 1956 onward (easily and cheaply available new when Raiders was made in 1980/81

Ronson Bogey Lighter (1930)(Chrome Look)

In reality, this golf ball lighter probably once had white paint like the other shown with it, but all remnants had been removed. I spent a couple of hours polishing it to see how it might look all chromed out, but I didn't quite get it all the way there (seems it's made of nickel which is harder to polish). Some say it came in white and nickel metal flat. The first one I bought I repainted had obvious paint on it. This one was clean so I kept it that way.

I also had to put a new wick and packing in it as the wick had fallen into the lighter. Otherwise, it works great and unlike the white one, there was no body damage to repair (other than polish). I could paint it too if the inconsistency of the finish bothered me, but they look kind of neat next to one another to compare.

Post Office says I got scammed on ordering a second Thorens lighter for a friend (last one was from same seller and arrived fine, but I see similar complaints in the comments section). It circled around the country for over a month. The clerk said he saw an image of the package and it went to the other side of town. Only the tracking number matches my address, but not the address/bar code on the package.... Hard to believe someone is a mole in this town for Thorens China (or it was empty and just went wherever). Why was the last one right? It makes no sense. We'll see if eBay gets my money back (or PayPal). It was one of these:

I did a Google image search and one of the options came up Amazon. I looked, and Amazon was showing vintage lighters. But even though they had a picture of this red one, it said the red was no longer available. (or at this time)

I received the 2nd lighter today and I've got some insight into what probably happened with the first one. It appears to have gone to a 3rd party collection place who then stuck a new label on it from Illinois and then came here (I peeled back the new label and it ripped, but not before revealing the old tracking number from China (2nd lighter; who knows what happened to the 1st one). So whomever got the lighter in Chicago must have screwed up the label it applied the first time.

Thorens "Lucky" Lighter (1935)

Someone scratched some chrome off the fill cap and there's traces of what looks like kids scribbling initials onto the monogram plate, but otherwise appears to be in good condition.

This one is working now, though after a bit of work (missing it's flint spring and screw, but I happened to have some parts...

I picked both up for about $50 each. I had just gotten the metal looking one working too.... I'm debating whether I should repaint the white one or not.

Thorens 1st Generation Single Claw Automatic Lighter (1913-1919+)

I bought this from a seller in Paris, France. The 1st generation lighters are much more difficult to find and cost more than later models. The French Tax Seal is on the front so you can see the proper bottom inscription showing the original patent.

It was made for Switzerland, but sold in France (no Rooster in emblem, but French Tax Seal on front). I believe that is gold plating because it cleaned up way too easy to have any brass tarnish on it. Old ads show the gold plated models to cost around 3x more.

The lighter works like new with a very strong spring. You press the button on the front and it pops open and lights the wick in one motion. Unlike newer models, the 1st gen models had no safety on the button (later models had a safety "screw button" that you screwed in and it couldn't be depressed, lest you set it off in your pocket or somewhere else accidentally by dropping it or whatever).

I've put the first two photos to show before/after cleaning/polishing.
