Licensed Blade Runner Spinner Replica

Andy, that SUCKS! Man, I'm so sorry. Here's hoping they catch the scumbag(s).

My neighbor told me a story, where he use to live, they were having these thefts happen. He had ordered some jacuzzi part that was stolen. When he was driving home on trash day, he saw a FedEx box at a semi-nearby house, set out with the trash. On a whim, he pulled over and sure enough the box was addressed to him from the jacuzzi place (and was minus the part, of course). He called the police, and they arrested a couple of "youths" who had been doing this. Recovered quite a bit of stolen property too. So miracles DO happen!

Sorry to go off-topic. But keep us posted.

Mine arrived Thursday, but I wasn't here so I picked it up from the post office on Friday (they had already closed for NYE, but one of the employees was cool enough to still bring out held packages).

The box had a big dent/rip on it (which the US Post Office put a "Received Damaged" sticker on it, so I'd know it wasn't on there end). Luckily it was well packaged and the outer box was bigger than it needed to be, giving some extra room for error.

Nice packaging, with all the photos (notice no Tyrell? Yet Abdul Hassan the snake guy is there).

I was really impressed with the car itself and the detail was better than I anticipated. I didn't mind the cockpit being so bland, but at the same time it really does stand out as being so, when it's compared to the rest of the car.

I liked the moving parts, and didn't know the wheels actually come out and down so that it can "roll": I found this out from the little instuction sheet enclosed between the box and the interior "backdrop." The wheels and the covers are really neat and intricate how the operate. Nice feature.

My 2 issues are... I have a couple of fingerprints on the "glass" parts, I'm guessing from the glue. Can't seem to remove most of them. Some are also hard to get at, but I'll try a Q-tip. Also, my passenger wheel cover doesn't stay in either position well. Really have to work to get it to stay put and "snapped" in.

I still think the price is too high. But if I was going to buy the BttF car and change it to this one, I know I could not do it for this price, with all the lights and decals (and these are better than decals, like they're acutally painted on). Overall, I'm happy with it (with the exception of the ripoff shipping price)

Great to hear. :)

Not so great to hear. This should really be a top-end product at this price point, and manufacturers marks is a real no-no, IMHO.

Glad to hear you're happy with it. I'm waiting for some kind sole to review this on YouTube so I can see it 'in motion'. :)

Talking of which, check this out. Don't recall ever seeing those stabilising fins deployed in the movie, but they look good.

Got my spinner today, wow! Love it!

Now, this thing is screaming light me!!

Anyone have pointers to some 1:18th scale tear drop lights and some forward facing "dash" square lights?!

Here are the photos of mine.

I received it from HLJ just after Christmas in perfect condition. The detailing is great and it seems to be a pretty solid model. Both doors and the wheel flaps are operable.

It would be nice to add a detailing kit since the interior is a bit sparse and lighting would really make it come alive.

Really happy with this set!

Hey, what about a stand with the Geisha add on the side of the building, and a support to hold the Spinner like it's flying by....

Just got mine...would love a stand and billboard...count me in if anyone fancies making one...also figures to go inside etc..!

Nice! You've got the whole DVD set-up there.

A stand with a billboard backdrop is a nice idea - that's one of those iconic images from the film that just sticks with you.

For just a simple flight display I was thinking about picking up one of these:

FlightPose - Adjustable Display Stand for Model Aircraft and Collectibles

I don't have any of these stands, but I've seen displays on forums with them and they look pretty good. Maybe one of these coupled with a nice Hi-Res billboard graphic would do the trick.

Wasn't there a resin detail kit for Medicom's "future car" that would work for the interior of the spinner?

Got mine from HLJ, this morning and I'm very pleased
Seems very light weight- it would have been nice to have some diecast metal pieces to bulk it up. I suppose plastic is the only way to go if they want to keep costs down.
My only grumble is that I also had some fingerprints on the inside of the windshield. Very hard to clean off and presumably due to the assembler not wearing gloves!!!

Quick question about the disc. On a previous post it says the disc is a Region A (that won't play on UK machines). However, there is no indication of this on the box, and on Ebay listings, it claims the disc is region free.
If I can't play it, I'll leave it wrapped and sell it on Ebay. However, if it is indeed region free, I'll hang on to it.
Can anyone from the UK tell me if the disc will play on UK machines.

You might be able to rip the Blu-ray to computer. If not now then someday when you have a blu ray burner. Then burn it region free.

I'd hang onto it even if it is not usable for now.

Thanks for that advice. As I'm totally useless when it comes to things technical, will you lose quality when you do it this way?

(Sorry to go off topic here- I know it's the Spinner we're interested in and not the BR disc).

Depends how you rip and burn it. Some lose a bit of quality if your burning to a single layered DVD blank.

You can rip DVDs fully and burn them to dual layered recordable DVD and lose nothing.
It took a little while for the dual layered blanks to become affordable to want to do that kind of thing.

Lots of people do this to back up their collection or to simply have their entire library as digital and quickly accessed from a huge media drive.

I don't have a Blu Ray burner yet, but I assume it is or will be possible to do the same with them.

got mine today as you can see it it the so called BTTF car but with lights and paint, I think its awesome but cant being myself to remove it from the plastic, HLJ is where I got it from, the box had padding on the top and one side the others made it through unharmed so i was lucky

Thanks for the link Syd, very cool and useful!

Ok, so i found some forward facing police lights (dash), however tear drop police lights are NO where to be found.

Anyone else have a idea where to pick some up?

Also check out this guys video! I dont think its the same spinner, but he did a killer job on it.

According to what the guy wrote (in Japanese), the "base kit is made by Medicom Toys." It sounds as if he used either Medicom's original Future Car or the more recently released Spinner.

Thanks for the link. That's a really nice lighting job! :eek
