Licensed Blade Runner Spinner Replica

First of all, I AM a Blade Runner fan, and I AM into it.

If you see the value in that pricing, cool. If you think it's a good deal, awesome.

Well, part of the "value" is in having a pattern that a scratch-builder can use to make his own one-off at studio scale. :love

Curious to know how accurate this little guy will be....it actually looks pretty good. Anyone have any skinny?

I've got one of the original medicom ones, and it's pretty much the exact same model, only this one is painted in the correct colors, has some detailing painted on the dash and the exterior lights have been added. They even kept the black color of most of the interior as well. It is proportioned spot on too.
There's a lot of potential in this one as it's a nice size, but I'm with JPolacchi and eagerly awaiting Randy's version.
Hehe I've still got two other Anubis conversions to get done as well... and Gary if you're reading this I haven't forgotten about the second one!!
This is a shot of the first one...

I LIKE it, very glad i pre ordered now. I reckon a repaint at some point, as it does look a bit too "plastic" but yeah overall....wow, and i still cry this is a steal.
So, where can we get decals come the time lol?

Down side is the obvioius plastic and not paint, looks like cockpit is lacking detail.
Up side is large scale and doors moving, hope that those front tire fairings will be moveable to ground mode as well and there is an actual tire inside.

It's a long time over due.

But I still want diecast and better detail with lights.
I want to see one of the upper end diecast companys get the rights.
Wouldn't mind an optional side cannon that could go on that track mount as was orginally the plan.

Cool! Very glad I pre-ordered. I got lucky enough to find one of those awesome resin interior kits that were made a few years ago, so I have the option of transplanting it from my own converted Medicom. :thumbsup

Nice to see another offering of this vehicle. Still... having trouble with the price tag... also WANT to see this eventually done diecast with some features.

Was there ever a 1/24 version of this car? I seem to recall a Back to the Future badged model kit sans police treatment.

I emailed HLJ to ask about the spinner, and they confirmed that it is NOT a staight re-issue of Medicom's earlier vehicle, and that the tyres do not deploy for ground mode. :(

As nice as it looks, and as tempting as it is, I think I'll pass on this one.

Edit. Just re-read Generalurko's post - can you give a link to that Japanese text ad showing the front wheel hubs up? May change my mind again! :)

Thanks for inquiring about that.

Given it is permanately in flight mode, a stand of some kind will be required.

Though I do seem to recall it sitting on the roof at the end of the movie in flight mode, So I guess it can land like that, just not drive around.

Dam the Japanese and their super cool stuff. I ordered one of these myself, even though I have like 2 VHS versions, a DVD, and (now) 3 Blu-ray versions ... I had gotten the brief case, someone "borrowed" the Blu-ray, so I ordered another to replace it, now I'll have this one... but did I really order it for the Blu-ray... um Noooooo.

Yeah, that was the one I saw. Glad you found it. Now, the text COULD say "Sorry, the wheels don't open like the photos we're showing." You never know. ;)

Nobody's found this cheaper than HLJ yet? Do love those new photos they have. Guess if I can't find a better price by their November 23 deadline I'll order through them

What about HLJ's typical shipping costs? Any thoughts?

And I liked the Die-Cast one, but yeah, that's like almost $500 bucks here I believe. Plus, note they don't show any movement with tires OR doors. Hmm.

And, no, I don't have BR on Blu-Ray yet. I've been waiting. For once, I lucked out. :)

Comparable items seem to ship to the US between $15 and $25. I guess it will depend on the packaging at that point.

Just another note... I contacted HLJ via email about the Blu-Ray and shipping. Here's the important info from their email back (quick response, by the way):

"The Blu-ray discs are region code A, as shown in the item description, and are in the original English with a selection of subtitle choices, which can be turned on and off. We do not know the entire listing of subtitles yet, but at least Japanese will be included.

We do not have the package size and weight yet, so we cannot provide shipping estimates at this time. As soon as we have that information, the shipping estimates will show on the item page:
Blade Runner Collector's Box (Blu-ray & MAV Police Spinner Set) "

Just FYI. :)

I'm betting the wheels fold out, looking at the pictures on HLJ the pods seem to have a slight bit of "not perfectly aligned" which comparing to the medicom version which I own it looks similar.

Here is one of those new pics, look at the bottom of the pods, they look like they need to "click" in like on the medicom to be fully closed, always needed to fiddle with that area to get it just right. Evidence that they will fold open with a wheel inside.

Looks beautiful, wished they had made the light under the windsheid clear like on the medicom though.
