Lets talk about paint. w/ video july 1

Re: Lets talk about paint

I've painted lots of foam, leather and vinyl with Meltonian brand spray paints (that's what they're made for) and I've never had to do any other prep or sealing. They work great.
My only complaint is that their black is a bit glossier than I would like. I'd say it's like a satin. Also, their color palettes are limited.
Meltonian can usually be found at places that sell shoe repair items, or leather or foam shops. Sometimes called "Nu life color spray".

Re: Lets talk about paint

well now. if its as good as you say and is readily available in north america. you may have solved every ones issue with buying supplies. 1 can is better than 3.
im going to look for it right now. then maybe make a vid for it, if i can find it.

Re: Lets talk about paint

MAX! i would like to thank you. not only did i find the spray right across the street from me, but the store also orders in eva sheets from 1/4" to 1"!!! and in black!!
you have just made my life so much easier.
im not going to forget about this thread, im still going to write up some sort of a tut with you guys help. so if you have any vids and/or pics to help out, ill start working on it.

Re: Lets talk about paint

not yet tommy, but it is on my list. nu-tech or hi-tech i think its called is supposed to work on vinyl.. which is kinda like plastic. i had used some on a tac vest that i have and its lasted through at least 20 paintball events. it is now turning grey 2 years later.
i may pick some up tomorrow before the long weekend.

the nu-lufe that max mentioned. i went to the shoe place across the street. the guy said he wouldnt sell it to me because it wont last. he told me that any moisture that gets into the foam will push out the dye and it will look like ****.

Re: Lets talk about paint

whats up forum?
so i just got back from cdntire. and i got some new stuffs. since my bday is coming up. my wife bought me the mother of all glue guns! i also got some paint as well.
soooo. after i put the kid down for a namp, im going to grab my camera and make some vids. however its not going to be my camcorder so that the vids will be small enough for youtube.
im going to put them all on my channel, just incase i can post them on here.
im going to post the paint stuff on here, as well as make another thread just for tut's/vids.
ill post back soon after i finish editing them.

Re: Lets talk about paint

this thread isnt really about me. i have found something that works enough for me. i want to collect experience for everyone and in hopes that a good tut with many options can be created for others having problems or limited resources.

you'll be using a certain product, yet recommending a different product to us?
is it better than what you're using?

What are you using personally?

I'm sorry. I'm just confused.

anyway. Hope it works out. :thumbsup

they should be up here later today and also linked on the first page.

I'm really glad you stopped smoking before actually using any of those flammable chemicals... However, despite proper ventilation, smoking anywhere near where you store flammable paints and other chemicals is a quick way to end up winning a Darwin Award. :confused

Stay safe! :thumbsup

ya, i know. but there were no vapors in my garage at the time. plus you must have a proper flammable vapor to air ratio with the proper amount of heat to ignite flammable materials. at least thats what i learned in college when i took the gas tech and pyrotechnic programs.
