Leno

Sign up! When I joined this afternoon there were 8,000 members. Last I checked there were over 32,000!

Jay had the show for SEVENTEEN years. He's done.

As someone who saw him in the comedy biz said "Never has a more hilarious comedian on stage SUCKED so bad on TV. Why does he do so well on a stage and just stink it up on the Tonight Show?"

Leno sanded all the edges off of his act for the Tonight Show, and that includes all his guest appearances over the years with Johnny and filling in for him on Mondays in the late 80s. Leno has admitted to this. It's just something he feels is appropriate for the audience. And yeah, it's soft.

But I saw him on stage in the 80s and I laughed my ass off. His appearances on Letterman in the 80s were always solid.

I say it's time to bring back that Jay, if he's gonna stay on TV.

Leno wins. I think a boycott of NBC is in order, lol.

That seems....dubious. That will, effectively, breach Conan's contract. NBC can try arguing that they offered to "move" the Tonight Show (to tomorrow...), but I have a feeling they'll end up shelling out to Conan. The only way that makes sense is if, by canceling Leno's show, they were in breach of their contract with HIM, and that Leno's deal is ALSO substantially more expensive than Conan's. Unless Leno's deal -- if breached -- would cost NBC way more than Conan's, I don't see this as actually solving a whole lot.

FYI, boycotting NBC will have far less of an effect than will boycotting the products that advertise when Leno comes on.

I don't think they really care about Conan. They're offering $20 million to him if another network picks him up.

Not a done deal until they make the announcement. I'm sure Conan had a no compete so I don't think we'll be seeing him for some time.
:(

Conan is an excellent writer, and I'm sure would make a damn good producer too. If I were him I'd be heading into features. I have no doubt he could make some really funny comedies.

I left a comment on the NBC line that they can count on me never watching the show as long as Leno is on it.
