You may want to invest in Paragrafix's excellent photo-etch brass set if you are doing a landing scene. The set includes both a forward and rear launch ramp. I bought the same set for my build.

Honest question about the rear plate. Was it kitbashed for another ship or prop years later? I'm thinking Klingon maybe.
Why do I find that backplate so familiar?

It does rather look like something you'd see on Klingon Bird-Of-Prey doesn't it?

That is simply amazing work, sir. Amazing. The chalk weathering is a nice touch in how it polishes off a sense of realism. Great pictures of her in space, too. That is a task unto itself. Thanks for sharing!

New update for September 18, 2017...
Since the original start of this build thread over five years ago this model was picked for inclusion in the Starship Modeler calendar...

Also, at the request of another modeller I have updated every photo in this thread as best I could since Photobucket chose to block all the photos in my original posts. I tried to salvage as many photos as I could as they are basically being held hostage as the site has gone to a third party hosting format requiring members to subscribe and pay a monthly fee which i refuse to do. If anyone here wishes to view my build and finished pics albums they can be found here on flickr. I hope you all enjoyed reading this build thread and can get some inspiration from it. This ship was truly a joy to build and share with all the members on the RPF...

This was always one of, if not my favorite kit as a kid. Dabbled a bit throughout the years, but primarily just collected kits without building since then.
Since acquiring a couple reissues of the UFO, have been slowly, (hopefully) attempting to expand on skills (long forgotten as well as new), and am hoping to tackle my own UFO in the near future, leaning on your descriptions/photos and guides as my crutch. Again, Sincere Thanks for the update!
