Leathersmith in or near Atlanta, GA

Does anyone here know of a good leathersmith, or does anyone here work with leather that is local to Atlanta, GA? I want to get a sheath made for a knife, but I haven't had too much luck finding many places that do that sort of thing here oddly enough.

Head over to Tandy Leather and ask around. I'm sure they know of lots of people in the area who could help you. Who knows...they have so much stuff you may decide to do it yourself.

Leatherwork is actually pretty easy. Tandy has lots of kits, but most are western style. They often have scrap bins with endcut pieces that they are desperate to get rid of. You don't need to buy a leather punch for stitching, an awl works just fine. I say do it yourself and save a bunch of cash. There are also lots of free patterns on the web.

Cool. Thanks for the help guys. It's actually a sheath for a SOG tigershark. I want it to look like the one John Locke has on LOST. Thats why I was asking for someone local or at least someone people have worked with before. I'd want them to fit the sheath to the knife and that knife isn't cheap so I need someone I can trust. Thanks again!

Starkiller0613,

Is this the sheath you would like to have made?

I live in the Atlanta area and have been working with leather for about a year now. Here are a couple of photos of some of the holsters that I have made lately. The main body of the sheath would not be a problem but I have unfortunately never tooled any of my past projects. I'm sure with a little help from the guys over at Tandy it would not be a problem. My schedule can be a little hectic but I would be happy to get together and help you with this.

Paul
