latex pigments

Has anybody used latex pigments to colour liquid latex as an alternative to airbrushing with pros aide etc. Was thinking about applying a coloured latex stippling to blend the colours then hand painting finer detail. Been told that rubber cement mixed with oil paints thinned with lighter fluid (zippo) works well but nobody knows the measures. My muscles on my suit are all attached and first layers of latex are on, in the process off smoothing and blending, but my mind has started to think of painting. Obviously I don't want to ruin all I've done so far. Any help/advice would be great.

Sorry if I feel like I'm repeating myself but I'm a little bit scared that of will all go to pot.

Yes i think there is a Tutorial of STEVE WANG the official painter of P1 costume that talked about Latex pigments or rubber paint wich gives PRETTY AWESOME results Angrychutney....I would use latex pigments as well if i had more money :D

Steve Wang used Rubber Ink.
The recommended way to paint the muscle suit is the following.
Adhesion promoter on the surface > Liquid acrylic mixed with a tiny amount of latex painted on to a latex surface with an air brush > 3 layers of paint > Sealer
Oil paint takes a really long time to dry.
There really hasn't been anyone who got things right the first time and people ran into issues here and there after their first outing but nonetheless it's a learning process..

I use rubber inks, which you have to mix with naphta or in my case i mix up with a mineral spirit (less or no odor at all), to paint any latex mask or parts.
Here are a few of the Pros and Cons of the rubber inks:

CONS:
* Can only be purchased by 1/4 gal or more.
* Price is much higher than acrylic inks (obviously)
* It needs Naphta or another type of combustible to dilute the inks.
* Not a big variety of colors, only 20 of them. Custom colors will have to be mixed up on your own.

PROS:
* Durability
* Flexible
*Concentrated pigments will cover more surface with just a little bit of diluted ink.
* Fast drying inks.

The ratio on mixing these inks are 60% ink + 40% Naphta or MS. But in my own experience using them you can do 25% ink + 75% Naphta or MS for a translucent effect.

Here is some of my work done with these inks. Please always remember to work in a well ventilated area and wear a respirator.

I hope this helps
