Latex joker bank mask WIP

So i purchased this latex joker clown mask from Fear factory studio's ebay auction, it came raw and uncut. So I trimed it the other day and began painting it this afternoon, this is the progress i've made. I painted it white with plasti-dip and the rest of the colors are slightly watered down craft paint. Some of the things I don't like about the mask are the tiny bumps that are all over it and also the shape of the mask under the lip, from the side it looks a little off. But overall it is looking very good, now I have to do some distressing to make it look dirty.

Done. Only thing is that it's not very comfortable to wear, if I ever decide to wear it. It's very heavy so i might have to put a vertical strap on it to keep it from sliding down. Also I didn't cut the mouth open like the original, and also the nostrils are super thick and would take some serious work to open up.

Looks amazing! One thing you could do is vacuum-form another mask from it. Use this one as your mold. That way you can create a lighter mask, one without those little holes and bumps you mentioned as well as sell them. I'm sure you could get 40-50 bucks out of each mask, maybe even more!

Big argument in 3...2...1...

Yep. You'll learn, you'll see all kinds of vitriol over the subject.

Basically you SHOULDN'T take another person's work and in any way recreate it for profit. The fighting even goes down to whether or not an item started as someone else's work and was modified.

I have not yet done anything that could be recast, but I would never do it because I can imagine the frustration and anger if someone were to take my hours of work and simply make a mold of it and sell it.

Check out the rules to learn some more do's and don'ts.

Ok well I apologize, I'm only a week old to the forum. There is no way I would have known that

It's probably the most important topic you need to read up on other than reading the Code of Conduct.. simply do a search for "recasting" and read a few of the longer threads. You'll quickly get a feel for it.

And, welcome to the RPF. :)

Thanks for the heads up guys. I had absolutely no clue that it was something that shouldn't be brought up. Feel like I have to walk on egg shells now to post something. I completely agree with everyone's thought on recasting. Lets please put this one to rest guys I understand my mistake, lets not take away the light from pelco.

Yeah I wouldn't do anything to make a profit off it if I did make a plastic copy. Honestly I really don't know if this is an original design by the seller or if it is a possibly a re cast of the noble collection mask. He had that photo on his auction with a pic of the raw mask he made.

On another subject I am considering clearing with it with some spray acrylic, not sure yet. The original had some shine which mine does not.

Noble just photoshopped an image directly from the movie (something they are notorious for). The real thing looked like this.
