Last starfighter props

If you're interested in anything, I can get you some prices...

I've been actively collecting on and off for about a decade, and while I have a few costumes sourced from your company's predecessors' eBay auctions, I never bought anything directly from their website. I've bought directly from just about every other web outlet you can think of that was around during those 10 years, except for theirs/yours.

Why was this? I found it way too annoying that they didn't just list prices for items. Having to inquire about every listed piece I might have an interest in was just too bothersome when there are at least half a dozen as-good-or-better items I'm interested in listed at other sources at any given time. I inquired once about prices for a few items, and two or three items on the list made the cut into what I'd be willing to pay offhand, but they quickly fell out-of-sight-out-of-mind on my list of things to acquire as money comes in just because there's no website with prices to go back to and say, "Yeah, can't wait any longer--I'm buying that."

I don't know if your company is interested in getting into the upper end of the retail/direct sale business or whether it's content with its current way of selling largely through auctions, but if you're ever interested in expanding your retail sales you really need to post at least some items with prices. Even if the prices you'd feel comfortable listing publicly are on the high side, you might be surprised at the sales that could result when there are actually prices of any sort listed. Items without prices attached remain vague and doubtful purchases unless they're someone's dream item. Items with prices attached are an invitation to stick in the customer's mind and get him thinking, "Isn't Y worth $XXXX to me now, and if not is someone going to buy it out from under me while I think too long or buy Z from Propstore hoping to get this later?"

Just my two cents' worth. :)

that's a great point Xeno...i often wonder why people won't put prices on things on site. You gotta know what to save toward..

You gotta know what to save toward..

Exactly--it makes potential purchases concrete, not abstract, and so makes them more likely. "If I save $XXX for X weeks, I can buy this. Or I could save $YYY for Y weeks and buy this instead. Or I should buy both for $ZZZZ because they look great together..."

I can't speak for how anyone else is, but for me I have a broad collecting interest so I'm always weighing what to buy this week and this month or what to save for next month. No price on an object means it never even enters into the equation unless it's a grail object; only then is it worth inquiring about, IMHO.

Excellent points. You spoke, I told the owners, and they listened.

The company (and the site) were set up primarily as a rental site and we prefer to get clients on the phone to help with creating and processing their orders.

We'll be implementing changes on the site where prices will be listed, but I'll still recommend that you call and talk to me or someone else when the time comes. Using "Last Starfighter" as an example. We've got multiples of a variety of costumes and won't be photographing each individual piece. We'll have a representative pic of a costume on the site, and if someone it interested, we can get pics of the pieces available and let the buyer choose.

I worked with Gene Winfield of Rod and Custom in Canoga Park, Los Angeles for a few years . He had built the Last Starfighter Van/Spaceship
for the film and in the late 80's had it parked at his house. He had me videotape it as he wanted to sell it along with the wraith movie car and Sux 6000 from Robocop. I lost track of where the van went to...anyone know?...oh btw it was built on a vw van chassis.

No. That is not the assassin pistol. It appears to be the barely seen sidearm of Commander Krill (Dan Mason) note the Kodan Armada colors.

It is a working flashgun powered by two 9v batteries in two separate circuits. One battery powers the "laser" sight.

RARE - Never before seen Last Starfighter Zandozan Assasin pistol was posted by "Drusselmeyer" in another thread !!! :love

Have anyone seen any of those? I wonder if they were used in the movie?

Now I really want to make my Mame cab a last starfighter replica. I haven't watched that movie since Jr. High when it was new.
