Lapd uniform

At the risk of alienating a new member...do they have Google where you live? Here are some search terms that will help:

"define bdu"
"quartermaster police"
"lapd swat"

Now go forth and conquer.

BDU battle dress uniform?, the camouflage clothes you see american military wear before the switched to the digital camo ACU/ABU. dont know what that has to do with police blues though. you gotta show that car! im somehow fascinated seeing american cars in different parts of the world. until a few years ago i learned corvettes are fairly common to the uk

lol, there where so many things came up for BDU. I think in this case it is "Bomb Disposal Unit"... I have this image of a guy running past me fast and as you see the back of his top, it says:

"BOMB SQUAD
If You Can Read This,
You Better Be Able To Keep Up"

lol:lol

I found some interesting things while googling some of this stuf one is this page from the LAPD which explains the Badges

I also found out the Peek Cap I want is a R10 LAPD Style:

However, if I am doing a Captain I will need a Gold Band. I need to check this but I am certain that is what I need as the officer on the right here is a Captain

Here is a close up:

I'm not sure where to get the Gold Strap from though?

The biggest problem I have is finding the main Cap Badge. I have found where I can get the Shield Badges from but the Cap one is a no go. Without that I am stuck. If I could get a Hi-res image of one, I could look at sculpting one and having it cold cast but I can't even find a clear image for one Grrrrr

This is the best I could find but I can't remember where I got it or if it is correct for the LAPD?

Does anyone know?

Sorry for asking, but I've been wondering. If you are not replicating a specific character from a movie, why the concern for this level of accuracy? Surely cruising around as an accurate, but random LAPD officer in the UK can't be the only goal?

It's for authenticity when at events in a LAPD Police Car. It adds to the show and as a Professional Costumer as well, I like to get everything as spot on as possible, and not have a "just make do" attitude.

So no need to worry... I'm not a terrorist or anything lol :behave

In the case of LAPD, it's battle dress uniform. I just realized I went off on a tangent there; sorry.

If you're going to do the captain uniform, don't forget your service stripes (aka hash marks). One stripe per five years of service.

The cap strap color might depend on rank. I'll get back to you on that. In the meantime, check this out: https://tandtuniforms.com/shop/cata...ucts_id/377?osCsid=itujruittg0dpcvkt8e3n17fo4

Thanks for that matey. I didn't know what the service stripes (aka hash marks) were or what they were called.

I like the link thank you again for that :)

"License and registration, please."

"'Scuse me, mate, but that says LAPD. This is London, innit."

"Yeah, um, about that..."

Again, your best bet is to modify an existing badge as explained earlier. Look on ebay, they are there as none police badges while others are defunct police badges. The main badge minus the text plate and center seal are identical. Its standard practice for prop badges to have an adhesive backed reflective mylar printed text placed over the plate and the center seal either printed or custom made. In reality if your close enough to see the center seal your looking for faults.

I found a Captain Cap Badge and a standard Officer one but the Eagle is the only bit incorrect as these are the older style ones, but I've just bought a Captain one to make do with for now.

Here are the links for both.

Normal Officer Cap Badge:

L.A.P.D HAT BADGE POLICEMAN,MOVIE PROP.NOT A LAW ENFORCEMENT HAT BADGE | eBay

Captain Cap Badge:

L.A.P.D HAT BADGE CAPTAIN MOVIE PROP.USED | eBay

I hope this helps those looking for one.

I've tried to have Blue Tiger make me a custom LAPD badge, and even got as far as having them create a digital proof but once I started asking about actually making it/final costs/shipping time they stopped responding.

I know they will make one-piece badges (based on their Blade Runner badge) and four-piece badges (based on their standard LAPD badge) and the prices are based on how many new dies are required for each unique panel.

If anyone has better luck getting an actual badge custom made by them please let me know. I still have several things I'd like to have made.
