Kylo Ren Voice Changer HELMET (not mask)

Hi guys first time forum user. So other than Argos in the uk, which is now sold out in my area, has any other store in the uk had these helmets or is every other store still awaiting stock? I read somewhere on here someone said tesco & asda will sell these - is this correct and have they been seen in stores yet? Any help gratefully received. Thanks

For US residents....order through Gamestop. $80 and cheap shipping. I got lucky and grabbed one from a store the day they got it in, but they are in stock on their site. YOu can also check their site to see if any of the stores local to you have them in stock.

I keep looking at the movie shots and this black series helmet and the front-most face "snoot" (or whatever you want to call it) appears to be a little too short compared to the movie costume.

Am I seeing this right or is it just the angles? Can anyone confirm or posted any side-by-side profile shots?

Everything else about it looks great. It just keeps looking a bit too short on that one part, though.

What is the snoot part? lol

In the beginning of the movie like when he makes his entrance his mask's front most layer is larger and taller covering up almost all the three ridges on the second layer. Then for the rest of the movie is switches to a smaller one that is much closer in size to the BS helmet.

Maybe they just decided that a change was necessary, Idk.

Yeah it was stupid name I gave it, haha!

Just that outer curved flat part over the nose/mouth/chin area length going down was what I meant.

Hey guys been following along on this post, just finished repainting my Kylo Black Series bucket. I also decided to cut out and replace the front nose piece (which sucks considering the price of the thing) and replacing it with the disney mask (which is $26). why they gave that one a better front piece vs. the $70 one is beyond me? So here is my finished piece. Just finished painting it satin black, and I still need to weather it. I started weathering the chrome, but need to work on it some more. Curious if anyone knows what mesh was used for the visor? Would like to replace the plastic one with it.

Very nice with the 2 piece look with the front nose piece...definitely am going to do that this week. Did you seal up the area behind the new piece from the $26 dollar one?

Oh man that looks so much better! Yes, that is exactly what I thought was missing from this. Even paying the extra money for the Disney mask that is still a great price overall spent for everything. Excellent job!

So, I've read through most of this thread, but I can't really tell what the general consensus is...

Is it a better route to mod a Black Series helmet or to scratch build (the whole 3D print/sand/mold route.) I don't have the dough for a Anovos unfortunately!

Yes I had to plastic weld it, and then I added a little bit of epoxy. to help seal the bond. The rest just bolted together. I did have to cut and shape the piece that goes behind it on the bottom. That took time to get it right. Once you start you will see what I am referring to.

So has anyone considered fixing one of these things up properly, and casting it in fiberglass? Just curious, cause I have one of these on order and was considering doing it for myself. Would definitely be better than the plastic it's made out of...

New member and first post. I just received my Black Series Ren helmet and will be doing the mods to make as close to the screen prop.
I to have been bothered with the size of the "snoot" as you called myself.

I assume the Disney mask your referring to is the cheap voice changer helmet that has the hood piece with it correct?
Anyway I'm thinking of going the route you did with attaching the Disney piece onto the BS.
It looks like you attached the whole front piece off the Disney onto the BS one. Is that correct?

I had planned to do this for my own personal helmet and ditching the black series, but it was much easier and cheaper to just fiberglass the existing helmet. It makes it sturdy enough for costuming or display easily, and you don't walk the thin line of "recasting" which is very frowned upon here.

Would something like this be in the "recasting" realm? I was under the assumption that was a label reserved for stuff like recasting some other builders work, or some smaller business specialty item (Anovos ect...) and selling it as your own work? Not really concerned with sales issues because I would be doing this only for myself, but I am a bit curious what something like this is classified as?

I kinda like the 'snoot' of the bs. It's more like kylos helmet from the later parts of the film. The bigger ones from the trailer kinda looks funny to me. Just my 02

Can't find any UK stock at the minute. If I find somewhere i'll post up, let you guys know.

I would ask the RPF staff before.
But I think its not a good idea to make molds of this helmet.First..we don´t know if the size is really accurate.
And second the real hasro helmet is cheap and looks a lot better with the real chromed parts on the face.
And thats an current toy from hasbro...I think it can be very expensive for you when they see that you are recasting their Black Line helmets!;)

Some may see it as recasting, others may not.

Personally, I believe it would be considered recasting. The modifications that need to be made are so minor, that you can't really argue you're using it as a "base." And this is coming from a guy who's first instinct is to mold everything.

If the helmet needed extensive modifications it may be considered another story, such as many of the Vader helmets originating from the Rubies or Don Post masks..
