Korben Blaster - What was / Is it?

I'm aware his blaster was a 'live fireing' gun that shot blanks. Does anyone know A) What 'real world' weapon it was based on...... and B) What his weapon was in the '5Element world'. That is to say in Star Wars there were E11 blasters made by such and such etc. In the 5Element does his weapon have a name / manufacturer that anyone is aware of?

It was built around a Vector CP1. His blaster doesn't have a manufacturer or a name I've heard of, I don't think that Besson ever went that in-depth as to name weapons. It was probably made by Zorg industries, I'd say.

I suppose we could give it a name?
